Sir Michael Lyons to open IBC 2010 Conference
The opening plenary session of the IBC2010 conference will feature an address by Sir Michael Lyons, the chairman of the BBC Trust, on the future of public service broadcasting. The session also includes keynote addresses by Yoshinori Imai, vice president of Japanese national broadcaster NHK, and by Ingrid Deltenre, director general of the European Broadcasting Union. All three will be subject to questioning from leading media journalist and commentator Raymond Snoddy.

PLASA 2010 Visitors Up As Exhibitors Praise "Fantastic Show"
PLASA 2010 closed on a high on Wednesday evening, with preliminary visitor figures set to show an increase over 2009 and strong international engagement from across the world. Exhibitors across all the show's sectors enthused about the quality of business leads and relished the show's vibrant atmosphere. The event, which filled London's Earls Court 1 and 2, drew over 12,000 visitors, while the international attendance continued to be strong with nearly 30% of visitors attending from 99 countries worldwide.

Studer Vista 5 Digital Console Powers MTV.com’s Live VMA All Access Webcast Coverage
Ensuring all of the music world’s biggest stars were seen and heard backstage and on the Red Carpet during one of the most celebrated nights in music, veteran audio engineer Ira Malek relied on a Studer Vista 5 digital console to broadcast eight live audio channels with eight VMA show feeds directly to the Video Music Awards’ live Webcast via the TriCaster System on MTV.com. Malek manned the Vista 5 during the VMAs at the AEG Digital Media Studio in Los Angeles, California.

Sound designer Colin Pink has specified DPA miniature microphones for a new UK tour of Chess, the opus of Tim Rice, Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. The UK tour opened at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle in late August featuring a cast of West End stars, and continues into 2011.
