It’s a comfort to know that somewhere in the world, 2020 ended with a music festival. That’s what happened in the shadow of New Zealand’s Southern Alps, where the Rhythm & Alps Festival saw off the year with a celebratory vibe enhanced by TomTom Productions, whose Hippotizer™ Media Servers from Green Hippo delivered the visuals for three separate stages.
 

Carlos Colina, Lighting Designer for the 2013 Latin Grammy Awards, staged at the Mandalay Bay Events Centre, Las Vegas, USA and produced by Univision, decided to make a point for Ricky Martin’s live appearance at the event… utilizing 18 of Robe’s new Pointe multi-purpose moving lights for the superstar’s acclaimed rendition of “Más y Más” together with singer songwriter Draco Rosa (who won Album of the Year).

Three months after supporting Autism Rocks’ highly successful A Tribute To Prince concerts at London’s Eventim Apollo Hammersmith, Entec was back in the house to provide extensive sound and lighting packages for the charity organisation’s latest shows, starring Grammy Award-winning heartthrob Ricky Martin.

For Ricky Martin’s monitor engineer, Steve May, DiGiCo consoles hold two big advantages: their I/O capacity - which means he never worries about running out of inputs or outputs - and the ability to switch seamlessly between consoles in the range. Both have made life easier as he and Front of House engineer Chris ‘Privet’ Hedge travel round Spain and Portugal on the current leg of Ricky Martin’s tour.

Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter John Legend’s Darkness and Light tour hit Europe this autumn, playing venues that ranged from the intimate 3,500-seater Merh! Theatre in Hamburg to the cavernous 20,000 capacity O2 Arena in London and MEO in Lisbon. An L­­‑Acoustics K2 system, provided by UK rental company BCS Audio, provided both scalability and superb sound.

For establishing a thorough communications infrastructure at the 52nd Viña del Mar Song Festival, the organizer used a comprehensive system combining wired and wireless communications equipment from Riedel Communications. To provide a comprehensive system for distributing of the audio signals and establishing a comms infrastructure at this year’s Tony Awards the production companies Firehouse Productions and Audio Intercom Services provided a versatile solution. The system comprised RockNet digital audio network including Studer Vista 5 console integration, Artist digital matrix intercom and Performer digital partyline from Riedel Communications, one of the leading manufacturers of real-time networks for video, audio and communications.

This summer, Riedel Communications' Artist digital matrix intercom system was employed in Secret Group's "Secret Cinema presents 'Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back'" to provide robust and flexible communications. The fiber-based Artist system allowed for a complex communications system that helped Secret Group transport guests at a former London industrial space into a live recreation of well-known environments and scenes from the "Star Wars" film franchise.

Riedel Communications' MediorNet real-time network is a critical behind-the-scenes player for the fifth season of the popular Spanish reality show "Gran Hermano VIP" ("Big Brother VIP"). MediorNet provides a redundant and decentralized signal routing and transport infrastructure for the on-location Gran Hermano VIP House near Madrid, moving video from more than 70 cameras and audio signals originating from four mixing consoles. As Spain's celebrity version of the worldwide "Big Brother" franchise, "Gran Hermano VIP" launched its current season in January.

The organizers of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, EBU and NDR, used a comprehensive fiber-based MediorNet system from Riedel Communications to distribute video, audio and communications signals at the event.
