For the tenth time now, the PRG Live Entertainment Awards (PRG LEA) were presented on 14 April 2015 in the festival hall in Frankfurt in front of an audience of over 1,300 guests from the national and international music, event and entertainment scenes. With a total of 15 awards, event organisers, artist managers, concert agents, venue operators and artists were recognised for their excellent achievements in the live entertainment industry.

British singer and X Factor winner Leona Lewis toured the UK in February and March with an elegant lighting show designed by Jamie Thompson and controlled by Avolites Sapphire Touch and Tiger Touch II consoles.

Ultra Miami 2016, a major U.S. EDM event staged along Bayfront Park in glamorous downtown Miami, attracted over 150,000 music fans and party people for three days of festive enjoyment with some of the best dance sounds on the planet. This year, Robe BMFL and Pointe moving lights were prominent on three major stages – the Main Stage, the Live Stage and the Carl Cox & Friends Arena – all helping create visually stunning environments.

The best cheerleading squads in the country met recently in Dallas, Texas, for the National Cheerleading Association All-Star National Championship with well-practiced routines performed beneath a large dynamic rig that included lighting and video gear from Elation Professional. Held February 19–21 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, production company Gemini Light, Sound & Video of Dallas served as lighting and video vendor for the event, which was televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network.

West London based lighting and visuals rental company Colour Sound Experiment continued its three year association with the UK’s darlings of drum ‘n bass Rudimental and lighting designer Jonny Gaskell, suppling lighting, associated rigging and crew for their most recent UK tour which included a sold out show at London’s O2 Arena.

It was Nashville’s turn to host the 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend, and the four-day event in Music City was packed with enough star power on and off the ice to excite thousands of hockey fans.  Morris, formerly known as Morris Light and Sound, was charged with conceptualizing and executing the audio and lighting installations and providing 24/7 production management at five venues during the weekend.  Morris deployed large complements of Clay Paky Mythos and Sharpy Wash 330 fixtures at three of the locations. 

As many fans are getting their first look at one of country music’s hottest performers, Cole Swindell is quickly winning over crowds nationwide on his first headlining tour. With his undeniable abilities as both a performer and songwriter, the production team needed to create an impactful tour design that would best accentuate the experience of the music. Wanting an expansive gear list that also included HD LED video, the production turned to Nashville-based Elite Multimedia who provided quality lighting and video solutions, along with a custom set cart design as well, all fitting in a single truck for travel.

NEP Sweden (formerly Mediatec Broadcast) and Rail & Tracking Systems (RTS) have purchased NEWTON camera heads from Intuitive Aerial. The gyro-stabilized heads will be used immediately for the live broadcast of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. For the first time, TV broadcasters have a cost-efficient, lightweight, stabilized camera head to capture dynamic action with precision.

UK dance band Underworld delighted fans with a short UK and European tour to kick off the live campaign supporting their much anticipated new album - ‘Barbara Barbara We Face A Shining Future’. Lighting was designed by Haydn Cruickshank (H) from Colour Sound Experiment, with the company also supplying all lighting equipment and the LED screen.

On Monday 4 April, more than 1,400 VIP guests from the German and international music and event industry celebrated the award winners at the 11th edition of the PRG Live Entertainment Award (LEA) held at the Festhalle in Frankfurt. On the eve of the Prolight + Sound trade fair, the event provided a varied programme with top-class live music and a glamorous start to the international industry get-together.

Robe BMFL Spot moving lights have been specified for France’s famous Arlette Gruss Circus show which started its 2016 winter tour at the Place des Quinconces in Bordeaux. Since 2009, the show has been staged in the 1500 seater ‘Cathedral’ tent venue, an impressive structure that features 8 masts and is 83 metres long by 49 metres wide with 20 metres of headroom.

Hamburg dance / trance trio Scooter – considered the most successful German singles recording act with 23 top 10 hits and over 30 million records sold – kicked off their 2016 tour with an eye-catching lighting and set design by Jerry Appelt, one of the best known lighting and visual professionals in Germany …..  also with a stellar career!

London's legendary live music venue, KOKO, has invested in an Avolites Arena console to offer more live lighting control than ever before for its impressive roster of bands.

Major Lazer unleashed their new live show – which will be touring throughout 2016 – at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California – playing two amazing Coachella (main) Stage sets, one on each weekend of the 125,000 capacity festival, one of the U.S.’s highest profile music events.
