On a night full of surprises, JBL Professional loudspeakers were once again called upon at the 53rd Annual GRAMMY® Awards to ensure predictable, high-quality live sound and audio for television broadcast. Held at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 13, the GRAMMY Awards were broadcast live in HDTV and 5.1 surround sound on the CBS Television Network. A grandMA2 light was chosen by lighting designer Paul Normandale and lighting director Glen Johnson for James Blunt’s “Some Kind of Trouble” 2011/12 world tour which has just kicked off in Europe. 2 x grandMA2 lights are on the tour, running in full tracking back up, with networking provided via 2 x MA NPU (Network Processing Unit).

For establishing a thorough communications infrastructure at the 52nd Viña del Mar Song Festival, the organizer used a comprehensive system combining wired and wireless communications equipment from Riedel Communications. Two experienced and respected Belgian sound engineers are currently taking their first ride on Soundcraft’s Vi platform and loving every minute of it. grandMA2 got up close and personal with the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards when programmer Willy McLachlan tapped a grandMA2 system to control lighting designed by Jeffrey Engel. The awards show was simulcast live on TNT and TBS from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center.

Michael Monroe, born as Matti Fagerholm in 1962 in Helsinki, is a Finnish rock musician and multi-instrumentalist who rose to fame as the vocalist for the glam punk band Hanoi Rocks. Monroe also served as the frontman for all-star side projects such as Demolition 23. and Jerusalem Slim. During his “Sensory Overdrive” World Tour 2011 Michael Monroe played two gigs in Helsinki’s Tavastia Club. Mikki Kunttu worked as lighting designer, programmer and operator for the shows with the assistance of his grandMA2 light.
