Clay Paky and Ambersphere in control with The Wombats at Ally Pally

Alexandra Palace in North London was the venue for the Wombats’ largest production during their current tour, which has encompassed the UK, Europe and Australia since the beginning of 2015.  Dan Hill is the LD at the helm, “This was essentially a larger, more intense version of the lighting rig we’ve had out lately. In London earlier this year, The Wombats played Brixton Academy and the show at Alexandra Palace really grew from that... nothing crazy, but extensions of what was already there to cater for both the larger crowd and the bigger, wider stage that Ally Pally provides. I wanted to keep things as dynamic and as fun for the band on stage and for people in the crowd as it was back in Brixton.”

Calrec Audio console on "TFI Friday"

U.K.-based rental company Presteigne Broadcast Hire has added a Calrec Artemis audio console to its rental line-up. The console's first customer, One-Ten Productions, rented studio and production facilities for the revived "TFI Friday" programme. One-Ten used the Artemis to manage audio for the most recent run of the lively and dynamic weekly show, which is anchored by live music and guest interviews.

The sold-out Madness Fall Tour by Canadian singer, songwriter and record producer, The Weeknd, in support of his third studio album, Beauty Behind the Madness, was a spectacular production, with set and lighting design by LeRoy Bennett of Seven Design Works. It incorporated over 650 lighting fixtures from Ayrton - including ‘every available IntelliPix™-R fixture on the planet’ – to help realise a design concept that delivered a multiplicity of looks from the subtly atmospheric to a totally engulfing spectacle.

It has become tradition to celebrate New Year ’s Eve at the Marina Bay in Singapore – in fact, each year it attracts 100,000 people to this festivity. For 11 years it has been Esplanade’s job, together with the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore, to organise and facilitate this massive event – last year alone it included 8 minutes of firework displays and 20,000 “wishing spheres” along the river. The Teatro del Casinò in Sanremo was literally taken by storm for the famous Vasco Rossi tribute band La Combriccola del Blasco's concert. The band was led by charismatic Kikko Sauda and - for the occasion - starred Maurizio Solieri, Vasco Rossi's long-standing guitarist and co-author of several of the famous Italian singer's songs. The show initially took place inside the theatre, and then continued in a hall suitably equipped to accommodate the audience and fans.
