It’s 2pm on a cold and wet Saturday at Millennium Studios, and the unmistakable sound of ‘Comfortably Numb’ is gently wafting into the car park from an open door. Inside the cavernous ‘A’ Stage, the band in residence is The Australian Pink Floyd Show, the outfit that since the late ’80s has been steadily progressing and refining its sonic and visual recreation of the rock icons’ music to such a degree that even a die-hard fan of the originals could not fail to appreciate.

Alexandra Palace in North London was the venue for the Wombats’ largest production during their current tour, which has encompassed the UK, Europe and Australia since the beginning of 2015.  Dan Hill is the LD at the helm, “This was essentially a larger, more intense version of the lighting rig we’ve had out lately. In London earlier this year, The Wombats played Brixton Academy and the show at Alexandra Palace really grew from that... nothing crazy, but extensions of what was already there to cater for both the larger crowd and the bigger, wider stage that Ally Pally provides. I wanted to keep things as dynamic and as fun for the band on stage and for people in the crowd as it was back in Brixton.”

U.K.-based rental company Presteigne Broadcast Hire has added a Calrec Artemis audio console to its rental line-up. The console's first customer, One-Ten Productions, rented studio and production facilities for the revived "TFI Friday" programme. One-Ten used the Artemis to manage audio for the most recent run of the lively and dynamic weekly show, which is anchored by live music and guest interviews.

The sold-out Madness Fall Tour by Canadian singer, songwriter and record producer, The Weeknd, in support of his third studio album, Beauty Behind the Madness, was a spectacular production, with set and lighting design by LeRoy Bennett of Seven Design Works. It incorporated over 650 lighting fixtures from Ayrton - including ‘every available IntelliPix™-R fixture on the planet’ – to help realise a design concept that delivered a multiplicity of looks from the subtly atmospheric to a totally engulfing spectacle.

Indoor ‘hardstyle’ festival Knockout Circuz returned to iconic Sydney venue The Hordern Pavilion at the end of last year, with lighting designer Arian Yeganeh creating a spectacular 8-hour light show using Clay Paky Mythos, Stormy and Sharpy fixtures.

Colour Sound Experiment supplied lighting for punk duo Slaves most recent tour which culminated in a highly animated show at Brixton Academy in London, with lighting created by Francis Clegg part of design collective MIRRAD.

Southampton UK based lighting rental company GLS was very proud to have supplied lighting equipment and crew to Motörhead’s final “Bad Magic” tour which ended in Berlin in December.

It has become tradition to celebrate New Year ’s Eve at the Marina Bay in Singapore – in fact, each year it attracts 100,000 people to this festivity. For 11 years it has been Esplanade’s job, together with the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore, to organise and facilitate this massive event – last year alone it included 8 minutes of firework displays and 20,000 “wishing spheres” along the river. Each sphere was signed by several people during previous months, with messages expressing wishes and hope to the upcoming year.

“La Banda,” the new contest to find singers for the next Latino boy band, just wrapped its first season on Univision wowing audiences with the talent of young competitors from across Latin America.  Clay Paky Mythos and Sharpy lighting fixtures amped up the excitement of the live show.

The pre-game and halftime entertainment portions of the event — powered solely by Powersoft amplifiers — featured energetic performances by Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Beyoncé and Bruno Mars, and reached no less than 111.9 million viewers worldwide.

True variety shows have all but disappeared from American television, but if anyone can revive the genre it’s Neil Patrick Harris who headlined the eight-episode “Best Time Ever” live variety series on NBC.  Lighting designer Matt Ford of Magic Lantern Creations in Woodland Hills, California selected Clay Paky Mythos fixtures for the rig.

Liverpool based production specialist Adlib kicked off a busy 2016 touring season with a number of great live artists including Award Winning Irish singer/songwriter Hozier for which they provided audio, lighting and crew to the recent UK and European tour.

The Teatro del Casinò in Sanremo was literally taken by storm for the famous Vasco Rossi tribute band La Combriccola del Blasco's concert. The band was led by charismatic Kikko Sauda and - for the occasion - starred Maurizio Solieri, Vasco Rossi's long-standing guitarist and co-author of several of the famous Italian singer's songs. The show initially took place inside the theatre, and then continued in a hall suitably equipped to accommodate the audience and fans.

Leading west London based lighting and visuals rental company Colour Sound Experiment is supplying lighting equipment and crew  to the current European tour by synthpop duo Hurts, riding high on the success of their third album ‘Surrender’ with an innovative production design by Rob Sinclair.
