Tightrope Media Systems, a provider of innovative digital signage, broadcast automation, and video server solutions, today announced it has appointed Magna Systems & Engineering as its new distributor in Australia and New Zealand. Tightrope Media Systems is using the 2016 NAB Show (April 18-21, Las Vegas Convention Center) as the launch pad for Cablecast Flex, a new generation of multi-format video servers in the popular Cablecast broadcast automation family. The Ottawa Senators recently upgraded the production capabilities of its multipurpose home arena, Canadian Tire Centre, focusing on a new LED score board, cameras, fiber infrastructure and a complete control room overhaul. The control room project included replacing its older SD gear with new, all-digital HD switchers, routers and replay system that would meet the production crew’s specific requirements.

IBC has named Tim Richards as the next chairman of its Partnership Board. He will take over from Mike Martin, who retires at the end of 2014. IBC’s governance is overseen by a board, made up of representatives from each of the six partner organisations which own IBC (IABM, IEEE, IET, RTS, SCTE and SMPTE). Placing these six industry societies at the top of the organisation ensures that IBC continues to be run by the industry, for the industry. Tim Richards is to take over as chair of this Partnership Board.

Today AJA Video Systems announced that Tim Walker has joined AJA as Senior Product Manager for its FS family of frame synchronizers and converters, including the FS-HDR, as well as the HDR Image Analyzer. Walker joins the team from Grass Valley, where he served as senior product manager for its switcher line. Tightrope Media Systems announces that Time Warner Cable will simplify live sports production and enhance the regional sports viewing experience with ZEPLAY multi-channel instant replay systems.  The company will install ten ZEPLAY units across several of its biggest sports markets through late summer.
