New and proven Lawo products at NAB 2011

Loudness metering, the latest feature of Lawo mc² consoles, will be demonstrated at the company’s booth C2628, in the Central Hall at this year’s NAB show. Following EBU R128 and ATSC A/85 specifications, and based on ITU1770, the mc² series will feature loudness metering for every channel. The metering is shown in the Channel Display and the GUI Main Display; a permanent display of the integrated measurements is provided within the GUI. This is a first within the Lawo product range and a world’s first for production consoles — a mc² series console offering integrated loudness metering.

The Aalto University School of Art and Design, an international school specializing in design, audio-visual communication, art education and fine art, recently chose a Solid State Logic C100 HDS Digital Broadcast Console as the centerpiece of its television studio in the Media Centre Lume. The Aalto University School of Art and Design, based in Helsinki, Finland offers doctorate, master and bachelor degrees to its over 1,900 student body, with open-university teaching and professional training courses. The C100 HDS is used by the film and TV departments, as well as other polytechnic schools that use studio facilities. The C100 is supported by SSL’s Alpha-Link Live, Alpha-Link 8-RMP and Delta-Link units.

Snell IQ Modular Infrastructure and Routers Support Swiss Broadcasters RSI and RTS

Snell today announced that Switzerland's RTS (Radio Télévision Suisse) and RSI (Radiotelevisione svizzera di lingua italiana) have installed Snell infrastructure to support migration of their master control and playout facilities to HD. The two broadcasters — owned by parent company SRG SSR idée suisse broadcasters — serve the French- and Italian-speaking populations in Switzerland. Snell delivered and commissioned IQ modular infrastructure and new Cygnus, Sirius, and Halo routers to the RTS facility in Geneva and the RSI facility in Lugano, in conjunction with systems integrator BFE of Mainz, Germany.
