The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers® (SMPTE®), the worldwide leader in motion-imaging standards and education for the communications, media, entertainment, and technology industries, today announced that the SMPTE Board of Governors has named the Society's 2015 directors and has appointed new officers and governors to fill vacant positions.

SMPTE^®, the organization whose standards work has supported a century of advances in entertainment technology, today announced the approval of the first standards within SMPTE ST 2110, Professional Media Over Managed IP Networks, a new standards suite that specifies the carriage, synchronization, and description of separate elementary essence streams over professional internet protocol (IP) networks in real-time for the purposes of live production, playout, and other professional media applications.

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers® (SMPTE®), is celebrating its Centennial with celebrations worldwide. The festivities, which include cakes ornamented with the SMPTE logo and messages of well wishes, actually began in 2015 during the biennial SMPTE technical conference in Sydney and continues with global celebrations held by SMPTE Sections and partner organizations. Part of the celebrations include honoring SMPTE's Founders' Day and the 100th anniversary of its incorporation — July 24 and Aug. 10, respectively.

When a snapshot is taken all current values are stored into a dataset.
