Parks, an award-winning and respected technology executive, has helped build Sinclair Broadcast Group into one of the largest content creators and distributors in the U.S. Parks will lead the customer group to drive Grass Valley’s efforts to move media technology innovation forward and deliver solutions that match the challenges facing today’s content producers and distributors. He is EVP and CTO at Sinclair Broadcast Group and a Fellow of The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE).

2020 is a special year for China and the world. With the acquisition that was completed on 22 October 2020, TVC Solutions UAB with Managing Director Ramunas Dirmeikis became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Broadcast Solutions Group. TVC’s focus areas overlap only slightly with those of Broadcast Solutions and to a large extent, complement the activities of the German systems integration company. In the Baltic region and the CIS countries, in particular, Broadcast Solutions is now strengthening its presence with the takeover of TVC, thus being able to offer an even more extensive array of solutions as well as further reinforcing service and support. Although fully integrated into the Broadcast Solutions Group, TVC Solutions UAB will act as an independent entity and under its given name.

TVN is expanding its competence center for aerial video with a focus on the TVN Live-Copter. In addition to certified personnel, the broadcasting service provider is
investing in technical infrastructure and the further development of complex workflows. TVN is optimally positioned to produce aerial shots live and in broadcast quality.
The TVN Aerial Solutions department combines professional teams, highly innovative, highperformance technology and well-established work processes. The concept of the TVN Live-Copter is becoming increasingly important. It convinces by the implementation of a stable picture transmission in Full HD broadcast quality. Furthermore, the signal transfer was designed in such a way that the live signal (including Tally, return signal and intercom solution) can be integrated into the production process without any loss of quality. In addition to the signal quality, special attention was paid to the safety, flight duration and balance of the camera systems.

AV digitizing and archiving specialist NOA GmbH has announced a technology partnership with UK-based Marquis Broadcast. Together the two companies have crafted the Medway-mediARC connector, designed to facilitate bidirectional integration with AVID Interplay. NOA and Marquis Broadcast successfully implemented this new technology at Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA) in May 2020. As part of the United Arab Emirates media house’s efforts to streamline its AV archiving workflow, the broadcaster integrated Avid Interplay into its already installed NOA mediARC Archive Asset Management (AAM) system at several of its regional stations.

In the increasingly competitive world of further education, Incheon Global Campus (IGC) in Korea stands out because it has turned the traditional model of a university campus on its head. IGC is a national project established by the Korean government and Incheon Metropolitan City to nurture next generation of global leaders in the fields of education, economics, industry, culture and arts. Signalling the start of the new NFL season, The Killers staged a special, highly symbolic one-off performance of their anthemic and hugely popular “Mr Brightside” on the rooftop of Caesar’s Palace … for the Las Vegas Raiders who have just moved into the newly completed Allegiant Stadium. Produced for ESPN, the segment’s lighting design was created remotely by The Killers’ long-term lighting designer Steven Douglas, who included 43 x Robe MegaPointes and 14 x CycFX 8 moving LED battens on the rig, supplied by lighting vendor LMG.
