Canadian singer Sarah McLachlan brought an abridged version of her world-famous Lilith Fair to Australia in October, the first time the female-only festival tour has been staged outside North America.

Snell has announced that its Kahuna multi-format HD/SD production switcher supported SIS LIVE's provision of host broadcast television production and coverage facilities at the XIX Commonwealth Games, held Oct. 3-14 in Delhi, India. SIS LIVE's television coverage represented the first complete broadcast of the games in HD, and the company's live feeds were used by all networks covering the event. The five Kahuna systems gave operators the speed and functionality required for smooth, accurate switching in the fast-paced live sports production environment.

MSG Media has based its entire HD audio strategy on three Solid State Logic C100 Digital Broadcast Consoles to service the audio needs of its massive new studio complex. As part of this initiative, MSG Media is currently installing a new 32-fader, C100 HDS with two Alpha-Link Live I/O units and an extensive MORSE Router system with Stage Boxes. MSG Media encompasses three HD channels: the MSG channel, MSG Plus and Fuse, the music/entertainment channel. The new C100 HDS console joins two C100 HD consoles already in use for live broadcast and support programming for the network.

SIS LIVE, one of Europe’s largest outside broadcast and satellite uplink supplier in the broadcast market, has signed an exclusive reseller and development agreement with Astrium, an EADS company and one of the biggest suppliers of civil and defence space systems and services in the world. Under the terms of the deal, SIS LIVE is to use its in-house development and manufacturing facilities to complement Astrium’s existing development programmes. The first product being developed by SIS LIVE for Astrium is the world’s first fully-automated flat plate antenna system.

Thomson Video Networks announced today that Hong Kong-based Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) has upgraded its J2 channel SD encoders to Thomson ViBE EM2000s for enhanced picture quality. Broadcasting 24/7 to youth audiences in Hong Kong, the TVB J2 channel is transmitted with H.264/MPEG-4 AVC encoding using the Thomson ViBE EM2000s for the main channel, together with a backup and lab rig.
