UEFA have announced today that Mediaset have been awarded the remaining package of media rights to the UEFA Champions League in Italy as well as the right to broadcast all UEFA Europa League matches. These deals conclude the sale of media rights to UEFA’s club competitions in Italy following the recent award of certain media rights to Sky Italia in respect of the UEFA Champions League.

Sportcast and SKY are Ready to Broadcast the German Bundesliga in 3D

With the start of the second round of the German Soccer League (DFL) on 14th January 2011 Sportcast will start its regular 3D productions of one match per matchday for SKY Germany. As a final test Sportcast produced the DFB Cup match FC Augsburg – Schalke 04 (0:1) on 21st December 2010 with the production company TopVision in 3D.

RaceTech Chooses Trilogy for Next-Generation HD OB Trucks

Trilogy Communications, a global provider of digital intercom systems and Master Reference Generators to the broadcast industry, has received an order from Megahertz Broadcast Systems for three Commander matrix intercoms for three new High-Definition (HD) Outside Broadcast (OB) vehicles destined to provide the production facilities for Racing UK Ltd, the premier independent horseracing broadcaster in the UK and Ireland. The high-specification trucks that will be designed and built by MHz are due to be deployed in the first quarter of next year — with the 2011 Cheltenham Festival in March expected to be the first major horseracing fixture to be shown in HD by terrestrial broadcaster, Channel 4.

A grandMA2 full-size console was chosen by LD Mauritz Jacobs to control all lighting for the 2010 Final of Miss South Africa, staged at Sun City Superbowl. Lighting equipment for the all-action, high-energy show - also a live MNET telecast - was supplied by Johannesburg Dream Sets, who purchased their grandMA2 from MA’s South African distributor DWR earlier in the year. They were one of the first companies in South Africa to run the new grandMA2 with the latest software version.

New EBU–FIS agreement on Ski Flying World Championships

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the International Ski Federation (FIS) announced today that they have signed a landmark agreement to broadcast key FIS Ski Flying Championships. The agreement includes the 2014 and 2016 FIS Ski Flying World Championships. The 2014 event will take place in Harrachov, Czech Republic whilst the event organizer for 2016 will be elected at the FIS Congress in 2012.
