STAGETEC completed development of another option for the new ON AIR 24 mixer: an intuitive control surface for touch-screen operation. This can be used in addition to the hardware modules presented previously and the more complex remote administrator software. The new interface increases the flexibility of the mixer still further.

New in version 3.0 is the use of macros created with the ATEM desktop software on the iPad. The macros can be triggered immediately with theiPad app. In addition, the user can organize the macros in groups of 10 macros each and assign group names. The macros can also be triggered with a timer at a specific point in time and repeated at adjustable intervals, both not possible with the original Blackmagic Design software.

Fully embracing the concept of distributed routing, California entertainment production services provider Touring Video Inc. has outfitted its newest production truck, TV-2, with a massive signal transport, processing, and routing backbone based on Riedel’s MediorNet. Unlike most production vehicles, in which the gear is permanently mounted inside the truck, Touring Video has built TV-2 to fully leverage distributed routing with the ability to outboard gear — or even the entire control room — for entirely new levels of production flexibility.

Set to be integrated into a new studio and production facility, Switzerland’s Technology and Production Center (tpc), has purchased a DYVI switcher from EVS, the leading provider of live production solutions. Entirely IP-based using the SMPTE 2110 standard, this Zurich-based facility will be used by tpc to provide production services to Swiss broadcaster Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen (SRF). The production team will also put in place a new XT-VIA live production server and IPDirector content management suite.

The object of the "Metechno" project is the realization of a new sports, news and technology center for the Swiss broadcast service provider tpc in Zurich. The technology center will provide technical and operational solutions for the entire production chain, from acquisition through studio and post-production to aggregation of the planned content. The project will implement innovative technologies including new workflows to enable future-oriented working methods. In addition, the technical infrastructure is designed in a way that all production areas can create their products independently of specific production formats. tpc pursues an "online first" strategy regarding content provision.
