Buckinghamshire Music Trust (BMT’s) Battle of the Bands (BOTB) contest for young aspiring musicians was this year blessed by having two of the world’s leading pro audio manufacturers provide a top tier concert touring spec. By being able to broadcast their sound through a premier touring PA, on a Dante backbone, will have taken the 12 bands competing in the final into new territory.

Amanda Ruzza’s open-minded musical approach led her to the Lexicon LXP Native Reverb Plug-In Bundle, used in an unconventional way – as a sonic enhancement to the sound of her 5-string and fretless electric basses. “After installing the LXP reverb plug-in on my computer and quickly dabbling with it to get an idea of what it could do, I immediately used it on some of my previously recorded bass tracks to get some really unique sounds,” Ruzza explained. “By exaggerating some of the levels of its virtual knobs to settings you might not normally use, I was able to create interesting synth-bass solo sounds.”

A huge victory for German Basketball superstar Dirk Nowitzki and his Dallas Mavericks team. On June 12th the Mavericks won the NBA finals against arch rivals Miami Heat. Three of the six finals were fought out at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas where they were broadcast using the finest German audio technology. At NAB 2016 in Las Vegas, European start-up Sphericam has announced that it’s going into full-scale production in the U.S. this summer with the world’s first self-stitching 360˚ VR camera capable of live streaming in 4K. The camera, called Sphericam 2, is roughly the size of a baseball and will retail for a mere $2,500 but packs in market-leading features such as 360˚ video recording at 60 frames per second.
