As the company name suggests, German artist Xavier Naidoo and his long-time musical partner Michael Herberger founded Naidoo-Herberger Produktion GbR. Their main focus is set on producing CDs of German rap band Söhne Mannheims (Sons of Mannheim, featuring lead singer Xavier Naidoo) as well as Naidoo’s solo albums. For their latest projects, they rely on the tools in Lawo’s plug-in collection.

For the first time London ExCel's Platinum Suite will host the KOI Awards. The event will kick off at 18:30 on Sunday 6 October to allow plenty of time for networking between old friends and colleagues. As is traditional the Awards coincide with the opening day of PLASA London, which also takes place at ExCel for the first time this year.

In Beijing at the beginning of October, the largest NEXUS network ever built by the Berlin-based manufacturer Stage Tec was used to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China: 58 Base Devices, 12 STAR routers and 12 mixing consoles. A parade, procession and gala event were broadcast nationwide by CCTV. Worldwide distribution was handled by CGTN Global Television Network (formerly CCTV International).

Flyka Ltd has officially launched its tenth Flyka electric tracking vehicle for the film and television industries. Designed by Tony Holker, the Flyka is the culmination of several years of R&D and live trials. Tony explains: “There is a huge demand in our industry for tracking vehicles and it’s surprising how few companies specialise in this field considering the dynamics that a tracking shot offers, and when the moving camera is so integral to added production values. I realised that there were almost no electrically powered dollies slim enough to fit through doorways or narrow pathways, so I decided to design and build a prototype to see if the concept worked.  I was able to start renting the fifth model and made improvements from feedback from Steadicam operators and DPs along the way. This tenth model marks a very significant step forward as we have increased the speed from 12mph to over 25mph with even more controllability.”

The London Studios has announced that the latest phase of its HD upgrade will see Studio 3 become the fifth studio in the facility to go HD with Sony Professional as part of a seven-figure investment. Further to delivering HDC-1500 studio cameras, OLED viewfinders, BCM E-series OLED monitors and an MVS-7000X switcher, Sony Professional will also provide ongoing support and training enabling the facility to continue producing a wide range of HD programming.

Soho, London is the heart of post-production for independent film and television, with many of the post houses there battling for the opportunity to work on some of the world's top films, TV programmes and commercials. Post production facilities in Soho vary greatly in size and style. There are large, international and well established firms, reeling out huge quantities of work in very quick succession. Then there is a handful of smaller, high end facilities delivering a bespoke service - the success stories in this tough industry. High end post production facility, The Look, based in the centre of Soho is a prime example of the latter.

London-based bespoke post production facility, The Look, has upgraded its six Grass Valley Rio high performance online editing and post production systems to support multiple, simultaneous streams of 4K and 8K playback. Rio forms the heart of the facility’s Dolby Vision certified post production pipeline along with the Rio Connect collaborative workflow engine and Rio Assist software. The Look decided to future-proof its facility after winning contracts to post several major drama series for 2019 and 2020.
