The IABM (International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers) today announced that the organization will host the annual IABM Manufacturers' Forum and present a conference session on the current broadcast market during the 2012 NAB Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC). The Forum is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, in room N236, and the conference session will include a 7:30 a.m. breakfast and 8 a.m. meeting on Monday, April 16, in N239/241.

The IABM (International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers) Training Academy today announced that it will offer its "Broadcast and Media Technology — Understanding Your Industry" course at two venues in Germany. German media industry expert and trainer Jürgen Burghardt will run the two-day course, which will be offered in German July 18-19 in Munich and Dec. 5-6 in Cologne.

The IABM Training Academy announced that, given the success of its 2012 course offering, the organization will significantly extend the breadth of its course offering in 2013. Through this ongoing geographical expansion and course development, the academy will continue to deliver training that addresses the broadcast industry's skills and knowledge shortage. The academy also will continue its work in establishing valuable links with academic institutions.

Construction on the International Broadcast Center (IBC) for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ has got off to a fine start following the official handover of the Riocentro venue on 1 December. Work began immediately on the construction and installation of the space which will be home to – at last count – broadcasters from over 70 organisations.

HBS (Host Broadcast Services) has been appointed by FIFA to be the Host Broadcaster for the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ in South Africa as well as the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ in Brazil and to oversee the host broadcast of Other FIFA Events (OFEs). HBS was previously the Host Broadcaster of the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups™.HBS' responsibilities at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ include Production, Broadcast Venue Operations, and the construction, management and dismantling of the International Broadcast Centre (IBC).

The preparations for the IBU biathlon world championships are far from being finished. The world wide largest winter sports event this year will take place from 29 February through 11 March 2012 in Bavaria's Ruhpolding. Ever since hosting the biatholon world championships 2012 was awarded to Ruhpolding in September 2008, much effort has been made to make this event the greatest world championships in biathlon history.

Coinciding with the reopening of an iconic Manhattan venue, PBS recently broadcast a 60-minute primetime special, Michael Feinstein at The Rainbow Room, as part of its Fall Arts Festival programming. As a loyal DPA Microphones user, Feinstein’s long-time Production Manager and FOH Engineer Andy Brattain ensured that the performer’s microphone of choice was used for the taping, which included a variety show and a series of big band performances. Several DPA microphones were used for the production, including the d:facto™ Vocal, d:vote™ 4099 Instrument, d:dicate™ 4011 Cardioid and d:screet™ Miniature mics.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC), The Coca-Cola Company and China Mengniu Dairy Company Ltd today announced that they have signed the first-ever Joint TOP Partnership Agreement. The partnership combines the non-alcoholic beverage and the dairy categories into a new joint category, and brings Chinese dairy company Mengniu into the family of Worldwide TOP Partners.

The Pontificia Javeriana University in Bogotá (Colombia) has recently opened its new Centro Ático center, a promoter of research on media projects and an educational and practicum center for the new TV broadcasting professionals in Colombia and the rest of the world. Centro Ático implements one of the latest media technology systems for learning development in the areas of image, sound and design.
