Chyron today announced that Peter Morrone has been appointed to the new role of senior vice president for engineering and product management. Morrone served as vice president of product engineering for Chyron nearly eight years, and in this new position, he will be responsible not only for providing engineering leadership, but also for guiding product management and developing the company's product release strategy.

Digital Audio Backbone System (DABS) is a fibre-optic transmission system with analogue interfaces for audio signal transmission between stage, FOH and recording, and direct analogue monitor outputs. Because the analogue connection technology is mixer-independent, the system can be operated with products from any manufacturer. The number of channels can be increased in multiples of 16 to a maximum of 64 IN and 64 OUT.

Artel Video Systems, a leading provider of broadcast-quality video transport solutions, today announced the appointment of Raymond Paradiso as its new director of engineering. Paradiso, who comes to the company with more than 30 years of experience in the telecommunications, wireless, and cable industries, will assume responsibility for Artel's technology strategy and product development efforts. This appointment comes at a key juncture as the company moves toward expanded product development in video-over-IP and high-bandwidth optics for its flagship DL4000 platform. Paradiso will report directly to Richard Dellacanonica, president of Artel Video Systems.

From now on media students in Stuttgart (Germany) will receive an especially practical insight into the audio and video control technology: The Stuttgart Media University (HdM) decided on the VSM control system manufactured by L-S-B Broadcast Technologies GmbH for its testing laboratory studio. Hereby one of the most high-performing and flexible superior control systems is available for the students of the audio-visual media study course. At the same time the studio has been upgraded for future HD productions with the commissioning of the Virtual Studio Manager (VSM). In cooperation with the Stuttgart-based system integrator Wireworx, L-S-B was instructed to provide a VSM control system to the HdM.
