Canal Alpha is one of a new generation of regional TV broadcasters taking full advantage of this new technology. Canal9, based in Sierre, Switzerland, has selected several Grass Valley® solutions to enable its transition from SD to HD services. Grass Valley has supplied a K2 Summit® production client with a K2 SAN server configuration, the GV STRATUS® application framework for nonlinear production including EDIUS® editing capabilities, and GV Edge™ integrated playout system. Canal9 has signed a 5-year agreement with Grass Valley.

Chyron today announced that RSI, Switzerland's Italian-language public broadcaster, is upgrading and expanding its installation of HyperX on-air graphics systems. RSI introduced Chyron's HyperX to its operations in 2007 for elections coverage and today uses 10 HyperX2 and HyperX3 systems across its broadcast studio, OB vans, and main playout department. The current RSI upgrade will result in a total of 17 installed HyperX3 systems, with future plans including integration into the broadcaster's file-based news and sports production workflows.

Wellen+Nöthen GmbH today announced that German public broadcaster SWR (Südwestrundfunk) has awarded it the contract for the overall implementation of a file-based production system at the broadcaster’s new production centre in Stuttgart. Wellen+Nöthen thus won a nine-month, European-wide tender process as systems integrator for implementation of the project.

Following a public tender, Movie Tech and its subsidiaries LASTRO Engineering and MTS Media Technical System were awarded the contract as supplier for the new SWR (public broadcasting company) studio in Mainz.
