As an ongoing series of Broadcast Innovation Days events Broadcast Solutions GmbH from Germany, together with partner companies, hosted two events in Asia. The events in Jakarta and Hanoi were held with participation of partner companies Riedel, IHSE, Zenon Media and Jünger Audio. The events were designed as lectures with additional exhibition plus hands-on sessions on the innovative products and solutions presented. Broadcast Solutions, together with the partners, experienced a huge interest from the local broadcast community that proved the events to be a great success.

If numbers don't lie, Israel’s Rising Star's ratings tell a clear success story: The show debuted to a phenomenal 38 percent of market share in primetime on Israel's Channel 2 network. The concept of Rising Star is broadly similar to Idols, The Voice or X Factor: A group of unknown artists compete to be the ‘best’ singer. The twist comes in the voting. Instead of call-in votes that are tallied over the course of a show with a winner announced at the end, audiences for Rising Star vote live on the air during a singer's performance, and their decisions play out in real time for the audience and the performer to see.

The broadcast provider TVN PRODUCTION, a partner of EuroTV Österreich, utilized an extensive MediorNet installation from Riedel Communications for the broadcast of the women’s Super G World Cup in Haus im Ennstal for the Austrian broadcast network ORF. Despite the extreme temperatures of minus 20 degrees Celsius the Riedel fiber technology enabled a successful event.

With a new record number of visitors, this year’s Broadcast Video Expo (BVE) ran from February 26-28. In 2013, the annual gathering of predominantly British, but also international, broadcast scene was held at London’s ExCeL premises for the first time. With its successful relocation to London’s Docklands, the trade event also once again lived up to the expectations for RTS.

The German broadcast integrator BFE Studio und Medien Systeme GmbH recently completed the integration of three HD studios for Al Dawri & Al Kass Sports Channel at their new TV Production Center at Aspire Sport City Zone in Doha, Qatar.

These were the recapitulating words by Florian Camerer, ORF, as member of the concluding ICSA panel discussion characterizing the common spirit of optimism, which was present during the whole event. He referred especially to the distinct convergence of science and practice, notably found in the sophisticated technology of Higher Order Ambisonics, for which the ICSA presented numerous impressive examples.

The MEDIAPRO group worked closely together with Formula One Management (FOM) to produce the TV signal for the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, which took place at the Montmeló track last Sunday. For the third year running the group was the host broadcaster in Spain distributing the signal to the world’s most important TV networks around the world as well as providing logistic and technical services.

The Concours Hippique International Officiel (CHIO) in Aachen is the most prestigious riding tournament in Europe. This year’s event, which ran from 21 to 30 June, drew over 360,000 spectators to the various competition venues to see some 350 riders in action. The tournament, with over 2.6 million euro in prize money on offer, was broadcast in more than 140 different countries.

The Amir Cup Final 2020 Ceremony, the biggest football cup competition in the State of Qatar, and the inauguration Ceremony of Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, the fourth FIFA World Cup™ stadium to open in Qatar following Khalifa International, Al Janoub and Education City was recently performed using 2 x grandMA3 full-size and multiple MA Network Switches. Qatar Vision Company developed, produced and managed the inauguration and final, that took place during Qatar National Day and exactly two years before the country hosts the FIFA World Cup final. Mohammad Assaf and Mark Anton were the lighting designers.

For the very first time in a Madrid-Barça game, MEDIAPRO carried out live 4K production with operators from Germany, Switzerland and Hong Kong receiving the match signal in Ultra High Definition with excellent results. For the coverage, the group used a 12- 4K camera OB van to produce the match with the cutting-edge technology. The biggest match in the Spanish league could also be seen in HD around the world. ESPN, DIRECTV, FOX Brasil, beIN SPORTS MENA, PPTV, beIN SPORTS USA, beIN SPORTS France and VIASAT requested signal customisation services from within the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium with link-ups both before and after the match.
