Belgian mediatech innovator Limecraft announces the appointment of Stuart Russell who has joined the company in the newly created role of Head of Marketing. He has worked in the media and entertainment industry for 13 years, holding senior marketing posts with LED lighting pioneer Litepanels and then Ross Video where he spent almost nine years. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, published columnist and contributor to several industry committees and councils, he brings a wealth of experience in brand building, communications and marketing strategy to the business.

Stuart Russell has joined Ross Video in the position of EMEA Marketing Manager. Stuart is a highly experienced marketing professional who has worked in a number of brand and product-focused roles with high-technology manufacturing, professional audio and consumer A/V brands. More recently, Stuart helped to establish and develop the EMEA presence of broadcast lighting innovator Litepanels, part of the Vitec Group.

South Korean HARMAN Pro distributor Techdata and audio rental company Total Korea recently provided the sound reinforcement systems at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2015 Universiade in Gwangju, South Korea. To cater to the sheer volume of people attending this event, Total Korea opted for HARMAN’s JBL VTX line arrays and I-Tech HD amplifiers, and enlisted technical support from Techdata.

Southeast Missouri State University’s Department of Mass Media offers its students more than traditional educational curriculum. The school’s courses provide a hands-on approach to producing news and informational programming, which is broadcast on the local CBS and FOX affiliates. As a longtime professor of TV & Film, Dr. Jim Dufek is the operations manager and production director at the University’s Department of Mass Media. In an effort to improve the quality of the department’s programming content, an array of monitors from Marshall Electronics has been added to the workflow to improve the students’ ability to clearly and accurately monitor both its in-studio and on-location news segments.

 

With approximately 750 students, the Academy of Music and Theatre Hamburg (HfMT) is one of the major music academies in Germany and offers an artistic and scientific education in all areas of music and theatre. One of the Academy’s hallmarks is its AV Media Center, at the heart of which lies a HARMAN Studer Vista 5 digital mixing console.

Taking inspiration from a swarm of butterflies in mid-flight, a group of students from Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) developed the unique ‘Flights of Fancy’ display for the 2014 Singapore Night Festival. The installation, which was the culmination of the University’s 10-week Urban Lighting course, used the Singapore National Design Centre’s expansive space to bring a true on-of-a-kind experience to life with help from HARMAN’s Martin Professional Exterior 400 LED lighting fixtures.

There are often times when a console operator would like to be able to stand in any place in a venue and change console settings. For HARMAN Studer Vista users, that dream is about to become reality.

Studer announced the introduction of Loudness Metering for all Vista consoles. This is a result of collaboration with RTW of Koeln, Germany, who is providing a special version of the TM7 touchscreen meter to be built into the meter bridge of Vista 9 and Vista 5 M2 consoles. The TM7 meter was chosen as it perfectly complements Vistonics™, the simple and elegant touchscreen user interface that Vista customers know and love.

HARMAN’s Studer announced that Evertz now includes Studer’s A-Link as a standard direct interface into the Evertz range of router products. This offers a very simple single fiber cable connection, providing 640 channels of ‘zero latency’ digital audio between the console and the video router (equivalent to 10 MADI connections). This direct connection not only saves installation time (one cable instead of many), but also removes the need for AES or MADI interface frames, thus saving significant space and heat; both important considerations in OB van installations.

HARMAN’s Studer today announced the release of significant new features for the Vista X, Vista V, Vista 1 and Vista 5 M3 digital consoles. This new software update includes the ability to assign Strip Setups as CUE events; support of the Soundcraft Realtime Rack (UAD plug-ins); support of Lexicon PCM96 Surround reverbs with Infinity Core; Input Gain unfold for multi-format channels; Spill Zone for contributing channels; GUI enhancements and new patch groups; A-Line embedded Ethernet; and contribution PAN in stereo channels to mono Aux busses.

Building on its overwhelmingly successful Broadcast Academy program, HARMAN’s Studer has announced additional free half-day Studer Broadcast Academy introductory training sessions on its Vista and OnAir digital consoles. The sessions will be held at the Soundcraft Studer premises in Hertfordshire, and will include instruction on the new Vista 9, Vista 5 M2, OnAir 1500 and OnAir 3000 desks.

HARMAN’s Studer has appointed Michael Franklin to the position of Senior Sales Manager in the United States. Franklin’s primary responsibility will be to help drive sales of Studer digital consoles in the broadcast market throughout the country.

In a move that strengthens the company’s sales presence in the live sound for broadcast and theatre communities, HARMAN’s Studer has appointed Rob Hughes to the position of Market Sales Manager. In this position, Hughes will be responsible for sales of Studer products throughout the EMEA sales region.

HARMAN’s Studer has appointed Simon Roome to the position of Technical Sales Manager. Based in Potters Bar and reporting directly to Karl Chapman, Simon’s primary task will be technical sales support for UK-based systems integrators and the UK broadcast market and will support Studer sales across the European region as required.
