GlobeCast today announced the launch of a new teleport and technical operations center in Rome to replace its previous facility. A major new addition to the media infrastructure for Italy, the teleport will offer content management and distribution services via satellite and fiber — notably addressing the growing DTH and DTT markets in the region — as well as contribution, ad-hoc services, and corporate applications.

Making its debut at IBC 2011, the 4MinX from AETA AUDIO SYSTEMS is the first fully integrated digital multichannel mixer and multitrack recorder in one compact unit. It offers mixing and even recording of 5.1 or 7.1 without any problems — both indoor and outdoor. Users can record up to eight tracks and maintain full flexibility on each track: monophonic, stereophonic, or polyphonic. During recording as well as mixing, all levels can be adjusted for each track.

South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has commissioned ATG Broadcast to design and install a networked ENPS newsroom. With 1,100 user licences, the new system will be the world's fifth largest of its kind. Its primary role will be to prepare content for all SABC television and radio news operations, including regional stations and international bureaux.

The IABM (International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers) today announced the shortlist of five finalists for the 2011 IABM Awards for Design and Innovation. The five products will be judged during the IBC2011 exhibition, with one entry receiving the prestigious IABM Peter Wayne Award in recognition of this year's outstanding contribution to broadcasting technology. All finalists will receive the IABM Award for Excellence in Design and Innovation, which recognizes products that offer significant solutions or new opportunities to the industry.

At the recent NAB Show in Las Vegas, ToolsOnAir and OCTOPUS Newsroom introduced the integration of the ToolsOnAir just: Broadcast Suite and OCTOPUS6, fully featured, multi-platform newsroom system.

Samuel Martin, MD of Decode and 3Dcode specialist 2D/3D rental and sales companies has announced an open 3D training day featuring Decode equipment and personnel. The event will be co-ordinated with an open day held by Wimbledon Studios on the same day, Friday September 16th.
