Spin Digital 8K HEVC Media Player Leverages AJA KONA 5 and Corvid 88 for Fast, Flexible I/O
Now that 4K production has taken off in broadcast, live events, sports and beyond, 8K and 16K production loom large on the horizon, prompting a demand for higher resolution video decoding and playback tools. Media solutions provider Spin Digital addresses this growing need with the Spin Digital Media Player – a high-performance 8K HEVC media player. Comprising proprietary software and industry standard hardware, it facilitates real-time HEVC/H.265 decoding and playback of UltraHD video on PC systems and has been used to transmit 4K, 8K and 16K video for large-scale event productions, broadcasts, virtual reality (VR) experiences and more. For audio and video I/O, the system uses a KONA 5 card and a Corvid 88 multi-stream, multi-format card.
Spiritland Productions and ON AIR Take HRVY Fans “Behind Closed Doors” with Help from AJA BRIDGE LIVE
Event production has undergone a major transformation in the last year, as pandemic-era travel and venue capacity restrictions have challenged professionals to rethink traditional workflows. Once a complementary add-on to events, live streaming has now become the main way to share and experience them. Well positioned for the shift, UK-based mobile production outfit Spiritland Productions has evolved its workflow to ensure clients can deliver seamless entertainment experiences for audiences whether on-site or from afar. The company was enlisted by ON AIR to help produce a pay-per-view (PPV) performance from musical artist HRVY that took place at the Royal Albert Hall in London in April 2021. As travel restrictions prevented ON AIR’s Netherlands-based team from traveling to oversee the production in-person, Spiritland brought them to the venue virtually, using a real-time remote collaboration workflow with SRT encoding powered by an AJA BRIDGE LIVE multi-channel live video contribution, backhaul streaming and delivery solution.
Spiritland Productions Livestreams Dynamic Sonic Concerts with AWS and Dolby Technology
The popularity of live music festivals and concerts has swelled in recent years, with the UK leading the charts for a country with the most music festivals. The artistry, visual spectacle and energy of the crowd remain a draw, but as COVID-19 hit, the live concert industry came to a halt, with large gatherings no longer safe. The music industry had already started livestreaming performances prior to the pandemic, so once it was safe to return to small, socially-distanced productions, livestreamed music concerts and festivals became the new standard. Since then, several live performances from around the world have streamed via digital platforms, whether a solo acoustic living room performance on YouTube or an elaborate socially-distanced band production streamed by a dedicated ticketing agency. With these developments, UK-based live recording, production, music mixing and broadcast outfit Spiritland Productions has experienced a surge in demand for its services.
