By adding HD-capable broadcasting technology to its playout center, public broadcaster Südwestrundfunk (SWR) has paved the way to simulcast broadcasting: From May 1st 2012, the channel will broadcast its regional content for the Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate regions both in SDTV and high resolution HDTV format by satellite. System integrator Wellen+Nöthen is responsible for the upgrade and redevelopment of the infrastructure as well as for the supply, technical integration and implementation of the new HD components.
