Themed “Prelude 2021: Be Part of the Conversation”, the year’s conference aims to bring the industry together to review what has been a year of rapid transformation, as it navigates the new year ahead.

Astera Adds Magic to Bergstrasse Lights Project
Seizing a chance to generate some beautiful light art, positive energy and creativity during the pandemic, Johannes Spieß, project manager from technical specialist MKM Event Show Technik based in Darmstadt, Germany, launched a new initiative of his own – ‘Bergstraße leuchtet’ (Bergstraße Lights) – to highlight some of the famous Bergstraße “mountain route’s” stunning monuments, historical buildings and public spaces. With events halted, normally busy rental company MKM had an abundance of lighting products including an extensive Astera inventory of AX3 LightDrops, AX5 TriplePARs and AX7 SpotLites sitting in the warehouse, so these were used to support all 12 of the lighting installations which were carefully crafted and delivered over a two month period.
Astera for #RedAlertRESTART Lighting Action in the US
Astera products played their part for the recent #RedAlertRESTART campaign in the United States on 1st September, a collective lighting action that saw over 2000 buildings, places, structures, landmarks and spaces lit in red to highlight the critical situation facing live events and entertainment … and the demand for Congress to pass the RESTART Act (S.3814) soonest to offer some sort of relief to the industry and try to get things moving again. John DiEleuterio, sales / project manager for from Wilmington, Delaware-based dry hire company Main Light Industries, reached for the company’s stock of Astera AX5 TriplePAR battery powered LED fixtures … in support of the event.
Astera for Anzac Day Impact
Lighting designer Brenton Slattery from Scene Change Brisbane chose Astera AX1 and Titan Tube wireless battery-powered LED fixtures to create a memorable light sculpture and high-impact messaging for the 2020 Anzac Day commemorations. The sign spelt out ‘LEST WE FORGET’ in bold, bright, positive letters and was highly visible on the waterside lawn at Howard Smith Wharfs in the Queensland state capital. Brenton is based at the Howard Smith Wharfs multi-venue site comprising a series of tastefully regenerated – and now heritage-listed – riverfront buildings on the Brisbane River, overlooked by Story Bridge which was constructed around the same time, between 1934 and 1940.

Nalini Tebbey owns and runs Floating Lotus, a thriving yoga studio based in Helensvale, Gold Coast, Australia, offering a busy weekly schedule of 36 yoga, pilates and meditation classes. Recently, helping to create a harmonious ambience in the studio … have been six Astera Titan Tubes. The business had just moved into a beautiful and tranquil new premises with large windows, lots of incoming natural light and panoramic views, a fully conducive environment for relaxation and concentration, when the coronavirus pandemic and resultant lockdown meant the doors had to be temporarily closed to the public!
Astera Illuminates “One-hundred Unseen” Installation
Bristol, UK-based production manager and lighting designer Tim Smith of TS Productions utilized the power and practicality of Astera wireless lighting to illuminate his “One-hundred Unseen” an innovative high-impact live art installation created as part of a UK nationwide campaign day on August 11th 2020 to the highlight the critical state of the live entertainment industry amidst the Coronavirus pandemic. Shows and events came to an abrupt halt in March, stranding companies, venues, organisations and a large community of freelance creatives and technicians without any income, with precious little government financial assistance, and currently, no roadmap to reopening.

AURUS mixes FOH for CCTV event in Beijing
AURUS platinum, the flagship of Berlin-based manufacturer Stage Tec, made its debut as a FOH console in China. At the end of July, a cross-over concert with music by Zhang Hong Guang, one of China's most popular composers, was performed in front of an audience of 18,000 at the Cadillac Arena in Beijing. The AURUS platinum was equipped with 32 faders and integrated into a NEXUS network with six Base Devices and a STAR router. CCTV, China's national state broadcaster, recorded the event, which aired on the CCTV-3 music and entertainment channel. IFTT was the technical service provider.
