Sennheiser Group and the Shanghai Concert Hall have agreed to terms that officially renames the Shanghai Concert Hall, “Sennheiser Shanghai Concert Hall”, effective March 10, 2014. This is the first time in Sennheiser’s history that a performance centre has been named after the company and signals a new beginning for Sennheiser Group. This prestigious event also introduces the formation of Sennheiser-owned record label, Sennheiser Media. Sennheiser Media is a subsidiary of Sennheiser. Famed Chinese musical prodigy, A-Bu is the label’s first signing and Sennheiser is pleased to launch A Bu’s first album at this event.

Audio specialist Sennheiser has partnered with Pink Floyd to demonstrate its AMBEO 3D audio technology in action as part of the sound expert’s work for The Pink Floyd Exhibition: Their Mortal Remains, which opens to the public at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum on May 13.

Closely following the growing popularity of virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR), immersive audio has become one of the hottest trends in the audio industry this year. In response to the growing interest in this rapidly maturing technology space, Sennheiser teamed with the Royal Opera House Muscat to host a three-day event for rental companies, broadcasters, AV consultants, and audio engineers.

Last month, Invisible Cities, the world’s first large-scale opera for wireless headphones, completed its limited run of sold-out performances at Los Angeles’ Union Station – the largest railway terminal in the western United States. At the heart of the production, which was staged within the vast, multi-room expanse of the terminal as well as among its outdoor courtyards, was Sennheiser’s new Digital 9000 wireless system. The microphone system delivered uncompressed, artifact-free audio night after night to patrons donning Sennheiser wireless headphones.

Last year, 101 musicians from 33 countries uploaded videos to YouTube of themselves auditioning for the YouTube Symphony Orchestra 2011. Chosen with the help of leading orchestras around the world and the YouTube community, the musicians finally made it to the end of their journey to perform in an extraordinary concert conducted by Grammy-award winning YouTube Symphony Orchestra Artistic Advisor, Michael Tilson-Thomas, and streamed live on YouTube directly from Sydney Opera House.

The spectacular culmination to a weekend of celebration for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee was the concert that was staged at the Queen Victoria Memorial, against the backdrop of Buckingham Palace. Shaping Sound, the contemporary dance company founded by Emmy-nominated choreographers Travis Wall, Nick Lazzarini, Teddy Forance, and dance visionary Kyle Robinson, wrapped up its six week fall tour with a lighting package designed by Seth Jackson and provided by Bandit Lites, and while Robinson was the only one of the four to hit the road with the production titled Dance Reimagined, the show itself continued to wow audiences with its visionary prowess

More than five years in the making, Sharjah Grand Mosque opened its doors in 2019, becoming United Arab Emirates’ second-largest mosque. The building occupies 185,806 square metres with a capacity to accommodate over 25,000 worshippers. Five thousand worshippers, with allocated seating for 610 women, can be accommodated inside. Surrounded by gardens and water fountains, the domes, minarets and columns reflect a unique Islamic architectural style and reminisce Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia. The main prayer hall has arched windows with stained glass, walls decorated with verses from the Quran as well as a large chandelier in the centre and red carpeting is part of the design. To not spoil the artistic impression, the approach to AV had to be a thoughtful one, and the system integrator had to meet a demanding time-frame for completion of the full system.
