The St. Olaf Choir, the premier choral ensemble from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, USA, has marked its centenary by recording a classical concert at Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, Norway. This two-day recording in June 2013 was captured for broadcast and subsequent DVD and Blu-ray release by UK audio for broadcast specialists Red TX in conjunction with Visions/NEP.

Ireland's Production House Uses Riedel RockNet for Derry-Londonderry's 2013 City of Culture Finale

Riedel Communications, provider of pioneering real-time video, audio, data, and communications networks, today announced that Production House, Ireland's leading supplier of professional audio systems, used an extensive RockNet real-time audio network to support the finale of "The Return of Colmcille" — a landmark production of the 2013 City of Culture celebrations in Derry-Londonderry. Produced by outdoor arts experts Walk the Plank, "The Return of Colmcille" culminated in a battle between the city's founder, Saint Colmcille and the legendary Loch Ness Monster on the River Foyle. The Riedel fiber network facilitated audio distribution during the impressive finale.

The Anvil Concert Hall in Basingstoke, Hampshire, UK is something of a regional gem. With performances that range from stand-up comics like Jack Dee, through to the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Sir Andrew Davies and Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells “For Two”, the in-house lighting system needs to be flexible to say the least. The venue has been designed to transform into various configurations: as an orchestral concert hall it has 1,400 seats and when it becomes a theatre with a proscenium arch, an open stage or a flat floor extended stage it can accommodate up to 1,150.

A complex multi-screen projection set to run for five months in a national pavilion at one of the world’s most prestigious art event has to work and it has to work well. Renowned Scandinavian rental and installation company, Informationsteknik, was happy to propose Dataton’s WATCHOUT™ as the ideal solution to the playback on 5 screens but dealing with 11 channels of audio and one screen in 5.1 was not so easy. In the light of previous experience, there was a need to find something that would be perfectly in sync but also easy to edit.
