SIS LIVE began using the Alchemist Ph.C – HD to support live 3D delivery in February, when the company participated in the O2-sponsored screening of the RBS 6 Nations Rugby tournament at 40 cinemas across the U.K. The Alchemist Ph.C – HD ensured smooth conversion of left- and right-eye video from the 1080i50 production standard to the 720p60 standard required to reduce flicker and ensure high viewing quality on theater screens.

3DLIVE project supported by the French Ministry of Industry

Launched in March 2009, 3D Live is a collaborative project that has been accredited by the three French 'Image' competitive clusters, Images et Réseaux (images and networks) in Brittany and Pays de Loire, Imaginove in Rhone-Alps, and Cap Digital in Ile-de-France. The project brings together 8 partners. Project leader France Télécom Orange is drawing on the supplemental skills and expertise of Technicolor R&D France, Grass Valley France, Thales Angénieux, AMP (televised shoots), Binocle (special 3D capture equipment and software), in synergy with INRIA and Telecom Institute research laboratories.

After extensive testings by HBS on various events during the last two months in England and France, the two 3D OBVans - one from AMP and one from Telegenic - were flown into South Africa. "Car 8" owned and operated by the French Company AMP and "T 16" owned and operated by the British company Telegenic are the first two European 3D OBVans covering a prestigious event like the FIFA World Cup.

The “Car 8”, owned and operated by the French Company AMP is one of two European HD OBVans which are equipped for 3D shooting of 25 games at the FIFA World Cup. “Car 8” will be in charge of the 3D shooting of one match in Durban and 15 matches in Johannesburg, shared between Soccer City Stadium and Ellis Park Stadium. "Car 8" has been chosen for the international broadcasting of the opening match and the final match of the FIFA World Cup in 3D.

3D African Wildlife Pilot: “Distant Thunder”

World renowned wildlife filmmakers Deeble & Stone have partnered with leading 3D production specialist Inition to co-produce a 3D wildlife pilot in Africa. The shoot took place in Kenya and was produced in association with equipment manufacturer P+S TECHNIK. Champions League Final in 3D on Sky UK

A season of change for the UEFA Champions League culminated with a familiar face lifting the trophy as José Mourinho led FC Internazionale Milano to a 2-0 victory against FC Bayern München at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid. At the conclusion of his 700th match for Inter, Javier Zanetti lifted the trophy and added the continental crown to the Italian league and cup double Inter had already secured. Diego Milito scored in each half to capture Inter's third European Champion Clubs' Cup and the second for Mourinho who, following his 2004 triumph with FC Porto, became just the third coach after Ottmar Hitzfeld and Ernst Happel to win the title with two clubs.
