AJA Video Systems today released v1.1 firmware for the new CION 4K/UltraHD and 2K/HD production camera. The camera started shipping just over one month ago, and this software update increases the Exposure Index (EI) values to EI 320, EI 500, EI 800 and EI 1000, as well as offering improved highlight handling capabilities.

AJA Video Systems is now shipping HDR Image Analyzer 12G, the powerful, real-time HDR and WCG monitoring and analysis platform featuring 12G-SDI connectivity. ARRI Rental’s ALEXA 65 camera system was officially launched last night in front of a packed audience at the Linwood Dunn Theater in Los Angeles. Attended by ASC members and key Hollywood figures, the launch event came just 11 months after proof of concept allowed the ALEXA 65 project to be green-lit in January this year. The system, comprising camera, lenses and a complete image workflow, will be available to productions from January 2015. Significant interest has already been shown by cinematographers attached to high-profile feature films.

From May 22nd to June 5th, ALFACAM is working with Panasonic, Eurosport and the French Tennis Federation to broadcast all matches from the Roland Garros Centre Court live in 3D. Alfacam will use Kronomav mirror rigs, equipped with LDK 8000 cameras from Grass Valley and Canon lenses.

Miranda Technologies today announced that All Mobile Video’s new Stereoscopic 3D production truck, “Epic”, has been equipped with eight Kaleido-X16 and two Kaleido-X multi-viewers for Stereoscopic 3D monitoring.

Amazon Studios, the original film and TV production arm of Amazon.com, has revealed plans to shoot all 2014 full oiginal series, including comedies and dramas, in 4K Ultra HD. Rival entertainment streaming service Netflix recently confirmed that it is filming its second season of award-winning drama series House of Cards in 4K.

AJA Video Systems announced that production company American Zoetrope used the AJA Hi5-3D Mini-Converter to enable convenient, cost-effective post-production reviews of stereo 3D sequences for Twixt, the 2011 thriller from Director Francis Ford Coppola that premiered at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this month.
