Live Broadcast of two German Cup Matches in 2D and 3D within 24 Hours


In the second round of the German Cup the defending champion Bayern Munich met SV Werder Bremen on 26. October (2:1) and a day later Eintracht Frankfurt played Hamburger SV (5:2). Both matches were broadcasted live in HD and 3D on Sky. In addition the Bayern Munich game was shown also on “Das Erste” in HD. The live coverage of both matches in 2D and 3D was carried out by TopVision on behalf of Sportcast, a 100% subsidiary of DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH and responsible for the frames of the German Cup matches. TopVision’s HD Ü4 and HD Ü5 with its associative tender trucks were on location at both stadiums and delivered both signals within 24 hours.

British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB), the largest pay-TV broadcaster in the UK and Ireland, and leading outside broadcast facilities provider Telegenic recently teamed up for 4 days of live 3D coverage of the most eagerly awaited golf event of the year, the 2010 Ryder Cup. Continuing to innovate in the 3D television space, ESPN Research + Analytics unveiled today one of the most in-depth studies on 3D TV to date. Compiling results from more than 1,000 testing sessions and 2,700 lab hours, ESPN has concluded that fans are comfortable with the medium and even enjoy it more than programming in HD. The research was conducted by Dr. Duane Varan, professor of New Media at Murdoch University, during ESPN’s coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup at the Disney Media and Ad Lab in Austin, Texas.

Odeon UCI chooses Arqiva’s Digital Cinema Platform

Odeon UCI, one of Europe’s leading cinema exhibitors and the world’s largest outside of the Americas, has chosen to deploy Arqiva’s Digital Cinema Satellite System. The agreement, working through Arqiva’s Digital Cinema partners Arts Alliance Media, will see Arqiva install its professional satellite receive equipment at nearly 100 cinemas for UCI in Italy and Portugal, UCI Kinowelt in Austria and Germany, and Cinesa in Spain.
