ARD Berlin Studio uses IP-based Lawo editorial workplaces
As a result of the modernization, every workplace at ARD Capital Studio Berlin is equipped with a workstation running Lawo’s JADE editing software with two screens for visualization. Each workstation is connected to a crystal console base unit, which serves as the platform for a tablet computer running Lawo’s VisTool software (whose touchscreen operation is modeled on a mixing console). An Ember+ interface provides control of the JADE software, which makes the tablet computers the central switching station and the workstation function as the routing center. The crystal base provides audio I/O breakout and microphone integration, as well as supporting loudspeaker and headphone monitoring and other peripheral connections. Source selection is managed via the IP network.

Clay Paky Sharpys at the College Football Playoff Weekend
The first College Football Playoff (CFP) was marked by a series of exciting events, including the weekend’s premier concert series, “AT&T Playoff Playlist Live!” headlined by Lenny Kravitz and Sting. Clay Paky Sharpy fixtures played a key role during back-to-back nights of shows at the American Airlines Center, Dallas. For organizers at CFP and ESPN, it was crucial that the events taking place during the inaugural College Football Playoff weekend be just as exciting as the game itself,” says Matt Foucheaux, Director of Production Design at Solomon Group. “It was also crucial that the CFP brand play front and center. Polecam takes its place at the ‘Olympic Games: Behind the Screen’ exhibition
Polecam, the lightweight and portable carbon fibre crane system, has been used extensively for the broadcast coverage of many genres of sport, increasing the viewing experience and excitement by getting close-in action POV shots and moves that would not be possible by any other means. This success has been facilitated by the low profile camera and remote pan and tilt head, which can deliver broadcast HD to the feed without blocking the view of spectators and not getting in the way of the participants. In addition, health and safety issues are minimal because of the lightweight boom, head and camera, unlike many other crane systems, and the fact that it can be rigged or derigged in times as low as 10 minutes allows it to change viewing positions even during an event.
