Digiturk made its major breakthrough when it acquired the rights to broadcast Turkish football league, which are subject to quite high prices, since the country has a great interest in football. Robe’s unique Cyclone combined LED washlight / fan fixtures literally joined thousands of excited fans of Pittsburgh’s National Hockey League (NHL) team - the Pittsburgh Penguins -for the all-important players entrance at their 2014-15 season opening match. This was part of a spectacular pre-show event staged at the Penguins’ CONSOL Energy Center home venue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. The opening match show was lit by Kevin Hogan from Process of Illumination, LD to the Penguins’ shows since 2005, and broadcast on Root Sports and the NHL network.

Vienna ATP Open Produces Big Screen Entertainment With Blackmagic Design
Blackmagic Design deployed a big screen video production system built featuring the Blackmagic Design ATEM 2 M/E Production Studio 4K and Teranex 2D Processor to enhance the crowd’s experience of the tournament. Event production specialist K-Zwei Kommunikation combined live match feeds from broadcaster ORF, player statistics, HawkEye line calls, music videos and crowd participation elements in a live program mix for the tournament, which this year sees world class players including Andy Murray and David Ferrer competing as the tennis world’s elite vie for a place in ATP World Tour Finals.

EVS Collaborates with Mediapro for Cutting-Edge El Clasico Production
EVS, the leading provider of live video solutions, has collaborated with leading European technical services provider, Mediapro, for cutting-edge live production for El Clásico. During the latest El Clásico football match between Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona, the host broadcaster used 27 cameras, 4K technology and instant multi-angle review. The match was broadcast to over 400 million viewers in more than 100 countries. As the host broadcaster, Mediapro’s OBVan 23 was equipped with a total of six EVS XT3 servers (each with up to eight HD/SD channels) that can record and replay 48 HD feeds simultaneously, all connected via EVS’ exclusive live sharing 3G-Xnet network. Eight replay operators used the EVS Live Slow Motion remote control panels within the truck to capture and replay crucial parts of play from all camera angles.

2018 World Cup Emblem Launched in Moscow
The first major milestone en route to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ was passed on Tuesday 28 October in the evening when the tournament’s Official Emblem was unveiled in Moscow. The ‘Urgant Night Show’, which was specially renamed as ‘Late Night Mundial’, provided the stage for the launch of the visual identity of football’s flagship event, which will be held in 11 Russian cities in June and July 2018. The evening television show was dedicated to the topic of football for the special occasion. The studio, which was converted into a stadium, and the band ‘Fruits’, dressed in the shirts of the eight World Cup winning nations to date, formed a worthy backdrop to proceedings. Presenter Ivan Urgant was joined by FIFA President Blatter, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee Vitaly Mutko and the captain of Italy's 2006 World Cup winning side Fabio Cannavaro.

Documentary Editors Rock ‘Filmage’ Post Production with AJA Io XT
"Filmage: The Story of DESCENDENTS/ALL" began as a passion project for a group of creatives working at Dallas-based post house CharlieUniformTango (CUT), and quickly evolved into a full-fledged documentary production. Within four years, the film's directors Deedle LaCour and Matt Riggle, along with editors Justin Wilson and James Rayburn, had traveled the world, combining a love for old-school punk music with filmmaking chops to deliver an indie flick that recounts the history and influence of punk rock legends the Descendents. The film features a compilation of present-day interviews with band members and industry influencers, fan video submissions and archived tour media. Editorial for the film required a portable and flexible workflow, for which Rayburn turned to AJA’s Io XT Thunderbolt-enabled professional video device for on-the-go I/O.

TNDV Produces CMA Backstage Pass Multi-Camera Streaming
At The 48th Annual CMA Awards mobile production specialist TNDV took the reins on the production of CMA Backstage Pass. This live, multi-camera streaming media experience gave viewers the ability to use their tablets and mobile devices to get an exclusive look at what’s taking place behind the scenes before and during the live CMA Awards telecast. With 13 HD cameras dedicated to CMA Backstage Pass, viewers will see many angles of activities off-stage, starting with the Red Carpet from 5pm to 7pm Central Time. From 7pm to 11pm, viewers can switch between cameras backstage, in the main broadcast truck and in the press room where the stars appear after receiving their awards.

Kongsted’s Dimensional Universe
At Danish DeeJay Awards this year, he took home three awards among these the much-coveted title as Danish Favourite DeeJay of the Year. Kongsted has indeed been on a roll the last few years. As a DJ/producer he is also the lighting designer of his own shows – most recently introducing a new concept “Kongsted in Koncert”, where his new hit track R.E.D. was recorded as a music video. “With ‘Kongsted in Koncert’ we are creating an experience for the crowd that is different from my other shows,” the artist explains. “Here we can control more parameters – light, sound, visuals, production design, décor etc. – in a way that is not possible on my more standard live shows. This gives us the opportunity to create a very unique experience linking together my music and playing style in perfect harmony.”

Rogers Sportsnet Turns to Orad TD Control
Rogers Sportsnet, the exclusive Canadian national broadcaster of the NHL, is using Orad TD Control to manage studio content distribution for its new state-of-the-art “Hockey Central Studio.” The groundbreaking build-out features a myriad of content display surfaces including an LED floor that shows game videos and graphics, and a main stage with a massive 3.3m x 11.6m ultra high-resolution monitor. The installation also includes an interactive “Puck Wall.” The futuristic design features 30 puck-sized slots, one for each NHL team. When a team’s puck is placed in the slot, it triggers that team’s statistics on a large touchscreen monitor. Orad’s TD Control simplifies the distribution of content to these and the studio’s other non-standard display surfaces by reducing the amount of resources required to facilitate the complex graphics and content workflows into one easy-to-use solution.

3D/4K ARISING
BCE, Level 3 Communications and Sony Demonstrated 4K Live Over IP Broadcast
Using state-of-the-art equipment from Sony and fiber links from Level 3 Communications, BCE configured the production platform and studio in Luxembourg. The broadcast was captured in Ultra High Definition at a 50p rate. The demo on Sony and BCE booth were configured by Sony experts. This demonstration was screened successfully each day and during Sony’s Press Conference at IBC 2014. This live 4k/50p production demonstrated bi-directional transmission of 4K signals including audio and real-time remote control (pan, tilt and zoom). Even with the 320 km separating each city, the broadcasting was perfectly ensured with no delay in the video.

Sky Sports Uses Vizrt Graphics Systems for Successful 4K Ryder Cup Golf Trial
Vizrt, a leading provider of production systems for the digital media industry, has delivered a successful 4K graphics workflow for Sky Sports’ Ultra HD trial at the recent 2014 Ryder Cup. The 4K trial follows the Sky Sports’ 4K test carried out at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. To enable the Ryder Cup coverage, Vizrt provided two 4K-compatible newly-released v3.7.0 Viz Engines with Matrox DSX LE3 4K SDI video cards and the Viz Trio character generator to Sky Sports to generate and deliver the on-screen graphics.
