Calling Billions of Hearts, SMT "virtual audience" debuts in Chinese Football Association Super League
According to the epidemic prevention requirements, all matches of the 2020 CSL will be played in empty arenas. Fans are the indispensable 12th person in the football field, how can we deal with the absence of fans? To this end, SMT together with CSM submitted a virtual audience production report to the Chinese Football Association. The virtual audience system independently developed and operated by SMT takes full advantage of the top rendering engine and combines the 6 stadiums in the first stage of the CSL to produce fully-fitted virtual audience animation, team LOGO and TIFO.
First S12T OB Van for Rwanda Broadcasting Agency features Lawo mc²56 console
Arthur Asiimwe, Director General at Rwanda Broadcasting Agency, on the rationale behind RBA’s order: “We were looking for a flexible OB truck that is easy to deploy and to operate. The vehicle’s fast delivery time and perfect price-performance ratio were further decisive criteria for contracting Broadcast Solutions with the production and delivery.” At the heart of the vehicle’s audio section, Broadcast Solutions installed a Lawo mc²56 console with 32 channel strips and a Lawo Nova73 compact core router to provide a flexible user interface with a host of control options right at the audio engineer’s sweet spot. The mc²56’s pristine audio quality and full support of the open RAVENNA/AES67 and ST2110 standards were additional arguments to select the mc²56.
Riedel’s MediorNet MuoN and FusioN Gateways Optimize Production Workflow for CTV Outside Broadcasts
“With the innovative gateway devices from Riedel, we realized that scaling IP is not just possible, but easy,” said Paul Francis, Chief Technical Officer at CTV Outside Broadcasts. “Other manufacturers’ solutions require deployment of messy single boxes or large frames, but the MediorNet gateways work with a switch that is already in place, handling two or more signals as needed at each location. The granular nature of Riedel’s SFP gateway deployment has really enabled the efficiency and flexibility of our project.” Riedel’s SFP-based MediorNet MuoN IP gateways provide multiple practical interfaces for bridging SDI signals into IP. With their small form factor (SFP+, SFP28), the modules can be installed inside a standard 10GE/25GE IP switch. Because they are software-defined, MuoN modules can be configured to run encapsulation such as SMPTE ST 2110, ST 2022-1/2, and ST 2022-6.
STUDIO / REMOTE PRODUCTION
Live Production Anywhere
By combining our tools with third-party technology, EVS facilitates the creation of collaborative and productive remote production workflows with three distinct solutions: No1: Remote live replay Different scenarios are possible for our live remote replay solution. A first scenario consists of having servers deployed at the event location and controlled by replay operators from a distance. This distributed production model means less bandwidth is needed, and ultimately, less money is spent, since most of the feeds stay local at the venue. Operators can build their replay and highlights packages from the broadcast center or from home in a similar way to how they do at the venue. And since their travel time is reduced, they are able to maximize their productivity and deliver in a consistent manner, leading towards higher quality productions.
SMT Virtual Stage, Cloud Audience, Demystifying the High-tech of the Cloud Summit
SMT Cloud Conference System, Online and Offline Full Screen Interaction. At a special moment in the epidemic, SMT independently developed a high-quality, high-confidential "cloud conference" system which broke through geographical restrictions and traditional live broadcast constrains, and provided cloud connections and cloud interactions for the opening ceremony of the 2020 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and multiple theme forums.
Lawo IP AV and core infrastructure upgrades Mediapro Argentina
Lawo’s video, audio, control and networking solutions were chosen to ensure interoperability and maximum use of resources across the facilities. In a first upgrade stage, Mediapro Argentina and Unitecnic have installed a V__matrix IP video system for edge conversion and signal processing as well as an mc²-based audio infrastructure featuring six mc²56 production consoles, Nova audio routers, five Lawo Commentary Units (LCU), VisTool-based touchscreen control panels and several R3LAY virtual soundcards for integrating PC-based audio solutions into the ST2110/AES67/RAVENNA IP network.
Sennheiser Digital 6000 System installed in largest and longest running television station in Puerto Rico
“WKAQ wanted talent to be able to walk from Studio 1 all the way through the hallways and rear corridors to Studio 8 and have perfect, broadcast-quality coverage all the way,” says Sennheiser’s Andrew Kornstein, Customer Development and Application Engineering, Americas. “It was a very complex requirement. This is not just something that we have in the catalog.” Alexander Rojas, AVL Group’s Vice President reports that WKAQ-TV wanted to be able to access any production audio source in the building from any control room. Those sources can include the on-air talent, who sometimes move between studios. Now, with Sennheiser’s facility-wide coverage seamlessly covering the studios, hallway, lobby and outdoor areas, Rojas says, “They don’t have to switch microphones, because the whole system is on a network.”
Pytch Goes Virtual
We made the decision to transform one of our warehouses into a huge Ultra HD virtual event delivery solution, including multicam production and videowall capabilities, as you would normally have for a venue setup,” he continues. “Clients can film engaging and dynamic presentations, training, conferences, and more, and have them broadcast to an infinite global audience.” Four Blackmagic URSA Broadcasts are used for acquisition, using Canon HJ22 lenses, and Johnny explains that the solution runs two distinct but overlapping systems. “The video wall backdrop is using 4K infrastructure and a non-standard aspect ratio. Meanwhile the cameras and vision mix are all HD-SDI with standard 1920x1080 resolution.

TRACAB Gen5 Provides Demo of Semi-Automated Offside Technology Developments to the Football World
FIFA has made semi-automated offside technology a top priority as it continues to develop Video Assistant Referee (VAR) capabilities at all levels of football. With this technology, FIFA aims to enhance VAR systems with expanded and more accurate information to assist referees’ decision-making and make the offside review process as efficient as possible. TRACAB OCT is one of only a handful of advanced technologies being assessed by many prominent football organizations from around the world that make up the Working Group for Innovation Excellence. To help visualize the solution as clearly as possible, TRACAB OCT plugs into its visualization tool, Virtual Football, which renders a virtual offside line accurately on top of the video, based upon the positional data provided to it by the tracking system.
MEDIAPRO and Johan Cruyff Institute promote training for professionals in eSports management with their first massive online course
According to consultancy firm Newzoo, the global audience for eSports will reach 495 million followers worldwide this year, between occasional and faithful audiences. For 2023, the forecasts are to reach 646 million, with annual growth of around 10%. In terms of business volume, the eSports industry will generate turnover of $1.1 billion, 10.6% more than the previous year, according to the consultancy firm. In addition, Strock Consulting report that eSports in Spain are currently ranked in eighth place in sports ranking by number of contracts with sponsors (as opposed to turnover). These figures demonstrate the importance of a booming sector which, despite these numbers, is still very much in the development stage and presents countless business opportunities. In this sense, MEDIAPRO and the Johan Cruyff Institute have joined forces to promote training in the field of eSports management. The agreement will see MEDIAPRO contribute its leadership position in the eSports sector with projects like LVP (the largest Spanish-language eSports organization in the world) and UBEAT (OTT and television channel featuring sector-specific content), while the Johan Cruyff Institute will provide their know-how and experience in sports management training.
Ultimate Gamer Captures Live eSports Highlights with AJA Ki Pro GO
Developed by CineSys-Oceana Technical Specialist Javier Mendez, Ultimate Gamer’s workflow included three Sony cameras for acquisition, including two on jibs and one over the shoulder, which captured footage of the players and tournament hosts on-site. Each player’s gameplay feed, whether via Sony PlayStation or Nintendo Switch, was integrated into the feed for live switching, after being converted to SDI using AJA FS-Mini Mini-Converters. A first-person view, shot via a webcam from each player’s computer, was transported via NDI for integration into the feed as well. Ki Pro GO recorded all three camera feeds and the 1080p HD gameplay feed directly from a Newtek Tricaster video production system. “Recording each feed directly to USB media with Ki Pro GO is so convenient. We can quickly hand off the drives to our editors, who are mostly freelance and working off of a laptop, and they can get to work right away with high quality files in their NLE of choice, whether Adobe Premiere Pro or Apple Final Cut Pro.

Over 670 #LightItInRed Illuminations Across the UK
It energized theatres, arts centres, live music venues, technical production and rental companies and associated individuals and freelancers everywhere, who were able to enjoy the camaraderie of working together once again on a massive national event with real purpose … after many months of the industry being closed and shuttered. On the eve of the event (Sunday) the government announced a 1.57 billion financial assistance package for arts and culture including live music venues, independent cinemas and heritage sites which has been widely welcomed by everyone. However it’s still far from clear exactly who will benefit from this, and there has still been no mention of help for live events and the vast infrastructure of companies, services and people involved in serving this and the music industry that is so vital to the sector becoming the unique and successful powerhouse of the national economy that it has.
Robe Illuminates Peachy Playhouse Summer Live Entertainment Event
It offers two weeks of dynamic, socially distanced, drive-in, Covid-compliant live entertainment, encompassing comedy, music, film and children’s shows designed to appeal to all sectors of the community, staged in the beautiful green environs and crisp fresh air of Loseley Park near Guildford, Surrey. Afterlife 2020 Debuts in Dubai with 100 Claypaky Sharpys Creating a Massive Array of Beams
“The main part of the design was a 60-meter truss in the center of the 100-meter hangar. The truss was filled with 50 Sharpys and additional wash lights,” says Bach. “The idea was to create a massive array of light beams that behaved as one single object in an organic way. In general, the Afterlife shows are more relaxed and focused on nice looks and moods instead of crazy and hectic effects. People should feel the music in combination with the visuals and lights without everything making them crazy.” The setup contained 50 fixtures on the main center truss and 25 more on each of the two side trusses. Additionally, 30 ClayPaky B-EYE K10s were used to create a side glow and illuminate the hanging Afterlife man, the iconic visual element of the show.

Composer Federico De Robertis Discovers his Afterlife with Genelec
As one of Italy’s most respected film composers, Federico De Robertis has spent more than three decades working in the world’s leading post production studios. Now, Florence-based acoustic design specialist Studio Sound Service has dramatically transformed De Robertis’ personal studio, assisted by a Genelec monitoring system which the composer describes as “simply perfect”.Perhaps best-known for his long-term, award-winning collaboration with celebrated filmmaker Gabriele Salvatores, De Robertis began working in his current studio space after relocating to the countryside near the Italian town of Lucca. His twin passions of cinema and music come together within the studio, where he works with Fede e gli Infedeli, the eclectic group of musicians with whom he collaborates for film scores, and the Underground Supporters, a collective of young and talented DJs and electronic music producers from Lucca, who also organize the afterparty for the famous Notte Bianca all-night summer festival.Until recently, however, the studio was extremely humble.
