Focus on BRIC - Now with Working Links
It should be noted that of the four countries, Brazil remains the only nation that has the capacity to continue all elements, meaning manufacturing, services, and resource supplying simultaneously. Cooperation is thus hypothesized to be a logical next step among the BRICs because Brazil and Russia together form the logical commodity suppliers to India and China. Thus, the BRICs have the potential to form a powerful economic bloc to the exclusion of the modern-day states currently of "Group of Eight" status. Brazil is dominant in soy and iron ore while Russia has enormous supplies of oil and natural gas. Goldman Sachs' thesis thus documents how commodities, work, technology, and companies have diffused outward from the United States across the world. Following the end of the Cold War or even before, the governments comprising BRIC all initiated economic or political reforms to allow their countries to enter the world economy. In order to compete, these countries have simultaneously stressed education, foreign investment, domestic consumption, and domestic entrepreneurship.
This already had and will have a strong influence on the build-up of a powerfull broadcast and information infrastucture to accomplish international events like 2008 Summer Olympics, the 2010 Asian Games and the 2010 World EXPO in China; the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India; the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia; the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brasil.

Outside Broadcast goes HD in Brazil with Soundfield
Globo began their plans for switching to 1080P HD broadcast in 2007, and sent managers to the IBC exhibition in Amsterdam that year to gather information about the equipment they would need for mobile HD broadcast with accompanying audio in 5.1 surround. According to Anderson da Silva Viana, TV Systems Project Engineer at Globo TV, SoundField was one of the first companies Globo had discussions with, even at this early stage. "Before we had even listened to the SoundField system, we were impressed by some of the comments other broadcasters had made," he explains. "The principal point for us was that we have to have a good downmixed product from 5.1. In Brazil, most TV sets are still mono and stereo. We wanted to produce a 5.1 signal with a good image and quality, but without affecting the quality of the mono and stereo audio, and we felt that SoundField's products gave us that."
