KOCCA 3D OBVan
KOCCA is a government agency dedicated to promote all areas for contents creation. We provide supports by infrastructure establishment, broadcast equipments rental as well as human resources training for operation. KOCCA newly present Korea’s 1st 3D OB Vehicle with multiple cameras operation. The 3D OBVan was build by Sony Korea and is currently on display at the Koba broadcast exhibition in South Korea. KOCCA also has 6 3D camera systems for rental (RED EPIC with 3ality TS-2, 2 sets of PMW-F3 with Element Pulsar/quasar, 2 sets of HDC-P1 with PS tech Freestyle) if additional set is needed.

Sony set to support The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus
The bus is supported by Yoko Ono Lennon who has unveiled the new initiative at the launch event in Liverpool, the Beatles’ home town. The event will mark the starting point of a European tour, with the bus traveling across the continent to visit schools, colleges, community centres, libraries and other locations. It will provide young people with free, hands-on opportunities to produce music, videos, photos, game apps and media projects within the bus’ mobile recording studio. As part of Sony’s commitment to the education and development of media professionals and producers as well as its focus on Corporate Social Responsibility, Sony is providing a range of production equipment and integration services to the bus. These include: 3D and HD camera kits, field production audio kits and studio production equipment. In addition, Sony-trained specialists will be on hand to help students get to grips with the technology and discuss the skills needed to produce and broadcast digital content.

PAT Supplies Global Television with World Class Manufacturers for New HD OBVan
Designed and built in Australia to the exacting standards of Global’s broadcast engineering services team, HD9 boasts a new level of integration and user features. Equipped with the latest Lawo mc²56 MKII audio console and Riedel communications system, this combination is a first for Global’s mobile fleet. “We have chosen Professional Audio Technology to supply us with a wide range of equipment for HD9, including the Lawo mc²56 MKII console with HD core, the truck’s VSM control system, various DirectOut products, hybrids from Comrex, secondary monitors from Focal and even smaller things such as fibre converters from Microsens,” commented Global Television’s Technical Services Manager, Milan Milenkovic.

Mobile Production Truck Converts to HD and Matrox MicroQuad Multiviewers
Before the upgrade, more than 150 CRT monitors were on board. All were replaced with LED monitors. 18 Matrox MicroQuad multiviewers now feed 80% of these new LED monitors in areas such as audio, video shading, the server/tape room, and half of production. “We chose the Matrox MicroQuads for their quality, ease of use, and very attractive price,” explains Bob Derryberry, President and Co-owner of Jones Mobile Television. “There are a lot of quad multiviewers on the market but since we had experience with other Matrox products in the past, we knew that we could rely on the MicroQuads for our new application.”

ECHO 2013: TV and Live Sound in Perfection
Setting up the wireless frequencies for ECHO 2013 turned out to be a highly complex affair: “If you include the walkie-talkies, we needed more than 200 frequencies!”, explained Svenja Dunkel in Berlin. The highly experienced sound engineer, supported by her colleague Tom Haubrich, not only had the job of looking after the wireless systems for the musicians and bands during the show. In her capacity as frequency manager, she was also responsible for coordinating all of the wireless requirements. In close cooperation with the Federal Network Agency, the performers and the technical teams, she was able to develop a binding frequency grid for the show. The huge amount of wireless equipment needed for ECHO 2013 was supplied by EBS LIGHTS EVENT Business Solutions, Studio Berlin Adlershof (SBA), rbb Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg, and MM Communications (Markus Müller), as well as an equipment pool provided by Sennheiser.

XL Video Supplies Video Package for the 2013 Olivier Awards
At London’s Royal Opera House, XL supplied the centre-stage LED screen, built from Pixled FX-11, 12 tiles wide by 7 tiles high, which linked up with the ITV broadcast feed and displayed live camera relay, VT clips and nomination packages. The main screen was matched on either side by two dynamic portrait orientated screens measuring 5 x 6 tiles and 5 x 8 tiles respectively, which showed nominee logos, special guest awards and Olivier logos. Content for the side LED screens was fed by XL’s Catalyst media servers (main and ‘hot’ backup) programmed and operated by Dan Bond with the main screen fully operated by the ITV Broadcast team. XL Video also supplied scenic LED for the band risers in the form of Barco MiStrips. These were controlled via an additional dedicated main and backup lighting Catalyst unit, triggered from a grandMA2 console supplied by White Light.

Haivision Powers Live Video Streaming for International Ballet Festival
Haivision partnered with Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS) and the Global Campus Network at Ryerson University to provide live video streaming for the performances of the original work entitled “Stream” at the Assemblée Internationale 2013 (AI 13), which was held in Toronto, Canada on May 3rd and 4th. A week-long international festival hosted by Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS), AI 13 was taking place from April 28 to May 4 in Toronto. It brought together students and artistic staff from eleven countries and eighteen international professional ballet schools (including The Juilliard School, Cuba’s National Ballet School, Paris Opera Ballet School and the San Francisco Ballet School) for intensive classes, performances, forums, and professional development.

DTM on TV and Mobile Devices
The battle for the DTM title win in 2013 is again being presented to the German motorsport fans live and exclusively on “Das Erste”, however Sky Sports broadcasts the highlights of the most popular international touring car series in Great Britain. Together with FOX Sports in Australia and RDS in Canada 13 million new viewers alone will be reached on three continents. Also in Europe the DTM fans can enjoy live pictures of their favorite racing series as well: ORF Sport (Austria), RTL 7 (Netherlands), Auto Plus (Russia) and ESPN (UK) air live coverage of the spectacular races. The first DTM race of the season provided motorsport action with numerous overtaking maneuvers, position changes and surprises. The 22 strong field thrilled the spectators on the grandstands. The buoyant winner after 42 laps and 192.108 kilometers was Brazilian Augusto Farfus with his BMW M3 DTM. He was the first to take the chequered flag from his fellow BMW driver Dirk Werner and Christian Vietoris (Mercedes-Benz). And all the action was covered by 51 cameras around the Hockenheim Ring.

Infostrada Sports Produces UEFA Europa League Final
During the UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday May 15 the eyes of the world’s football fans will be turned to the Amsterdam ArenA. This year the football clubs Benfica and Chelsea have qualified for the final of this prestigious European tournament. In addition to facilitating host broadcasting (comprised of three different video feeds) distributed globally, Infostrada Sports will also produce a studio program for the Dutch broadcaster of the final – RTL 7 - and will produce Stadium TV. Infostrada Sports has chosen United as the technical supplier, a Dutch company with extensive experience in delivering facilities for complex and major international sports events such as parts of the Olympic Winter and Summer Games.

Infront Drives Broadcast Innovation for IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship
The 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship (03 - 19 May) is featuring an Ultra High Speed Camera along with two additional remote cameras positioned behind each goal. The latest enhancements offered by Infront follow a long line of broadcast innovations: In 2001, the first in-goal cameras were introduced which provided fans with a superb goal perspective of the games. In 2008 the semi-finals and final were covered live in stereoscopic 3D HDTV. This was the first time that a major ice hockey tournament was being produced in 3D. Infront also introduced a camera position above the centre circle which provided a ‘birds eye’ view of the action. In 2009 the full HD programming of all matches offered even more depth and clarity to the TV image.

Innovation: Euro Media France Launches the Referee Camera
On Saturday 30 March at 2.50pm Euro Media France produced a new genre of images for Canal+ thanks to a camera placed on the head of the referee during the Stade Français-Toulon rugby match. Linked by RF to the OB truck, this unusual wide-angle camera was attached to the referee’s head. This new camera is then controlled like a classic camera as the picture engineer can do this from the OB truck, whilst also controlling the colorimetry and the diaphragm. Already used in Australia, this innovation is a first for Europe, proving once again that Euro Media France offers its clients the best existing technology on the market.

BEYONCÉ Dazzles with 470 SGM X-5 Strobes
The introduction of the groundbreaking X-5 LED strobes from Peter Johansen’s SGM provided all the inspiration necessary for multi-award winning production designer, LeRoy Bennett, to specify no fewer than 470 pieces for Beyoncé’s The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour — making it possibly the brightest show ever measured (in lux output) on a concert stage. Lighting for the tour, which opens in Europe in mid-April before moving to the UK, and then hitting North America at the end of June, has been provided by Illinois-based rental company, Upstaging Inc — who are LeRoy Bennett’s supplier of choice. “They have the best back-up and are always more than 150% supportive of every project,” he says.

SOUND.COM and Optocore Mastermind Opening of IPL
The multi-purpose Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata was chosen to host the opening ceremony of the cricketing franchise this year with the inauguration promising to be one of the most spectacular events ever witnessed. Built in 1984, the stadium is the largest in India and the second largest in the world with a capacity of 120,000. With its astroturf surface the facility primarily caters to football matches and has also hosted athletic events in the past. With bases in Mumbai and Delhi, SOUND.COM sent a proposal to main contractors, Dutch based Poly Worldwide Entertainment setting out their credentials. “The belief that they had chosen the right audio company in India was established as soon as we opened our flight cases,” he said. “We had had everyone inspecting and admiring our Optocore digital transport system and our self-styled OptoRacks,” he said.

Robe In Brazil with Lollapalooza
The 2013 Brazilian Lollapalooza Festival staged at São Paulo’s Jockey Club featured a selection of Robe moving lights on the main two stages, Cidade Jardim and Butantã. The Butantã stage lighting rig included 27 x Robe ColorSpot 2500E ATs and ten ROBIN 600 LEDWashes, while on the Cidade Jardim stage were 34 x ColorSpot 2500E ATs, 19 x ColorWash 2500E ATs and ten ROBIN 600 LEDWashes. Additional units were located above the side IMAG screens on both stages. Artists rocking the Cidade Jardim and Butantã stages included The Temper Trap, The Flaming Lips, Deadmau5, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Queens of the Stone Age, Kaiser Chiefs, The Hives, Pearl Jam and many more.

Cameron | Pace Group announced that it has won a Sports Emmy Award with ESPN 3D for coverage of the 2012 Winter X Games 16. ESPN 3D and Cameron | Pace Group captured the award for Outstanding Technical Team Remote for its 3D broadcast from Aspen, Colo. The award was announced Tuesday, May 7, at the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences 34th Annual Sports Emmy Awards in New York City. This year ’s Sports Emmy marks the latest chapter in NATAS ’s recognition of CPG’s 3D broadcast expertise. In 2011, CPG earned the George Wensel Technical Achievement Award for coverage of the 2010 U.S. Open Tennis Championship. CPG also received a Sports Emmy in 2012 for its broadcast of Winter X Games 15.
