ANO Panorama - On the Way to the Olympic Games in Sochi
Part of the concept of the national signal production in Sochi is the distribution of 12 HD OBVans across Russia and training of the crews during more than 30 international events in the coming months ( e.g. Olympic Test Events in Sochi, Biathlon World Cup, Universiade in Kazan, etc.). Currently the 10-Camera OBVans are allocated to Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk, UFA and Moscow; the 16-Camera HD OBVans are allocated to Rostov-on-Don, Kaliningrad, Sochi and Moscow, while the 24-Camera HD OBVans have found their home in St. Petersburg, Kazan and Moscow. This distribution of the HD OBVans is an advantage for the whole of Russia, because the training on state-of-the-art technology will be spread across the local teams and after the Sochi Olympic Games the HD OBVans will again be based in the above mentioned towns.

Red TX and CTV Capture Strictly Come Dancing
Strictly Come Dancing’s one-off glitterball spectacular, which was broadcast live from Wembley Arena on Saturday November 17th in aid of Children In Need, involved an enormous effort backstage to ensure that the audio reflected the quality of the on-stage performances. Behind the scenes two Outside Broadcast vehicles belonging to Red TX and CTV were working in tandem to provide BBC Studios and Post Production sound engineers Tony Revell, Andy Tapley and Richard Sillitoe with all the facilities they needed to capture and broadcast the audio in stereo and 5.1 surround sound. The two trucks were linked using a combination of MADI and MIDI interfaces. This allowed Andy, who was in charge of the audio from the orchestra and the dancers, to work in unison with Tony, who was handling the audio from the audience, presenters, judges and guest performers to create the main mix.

MAC 101™ Advantages for Alan Tam Canadian Tour
One way that World Vision raises funds for its African relief programs each year is to stage a tour across Canada with an international pop star from Hong Kong. This year’s headliner was Alan Tam who performed shows beneath a Martin rig of MAC 101™ and MAC 700 series moving heads. Vancouver-based Canton Productions has extensive experience in this market and once again called upon Jason McKinnon from Electric Aura Projects (EAP) to design the lighting for the tour. Jason describes the event: “Being a charity event, I need to squeeze every penny out of the budget with so many factors to consider. The show is in theatres with very limited setup time and there is no possibility of travelling with equipment due to distances between show and the turnaround times. This means I need to maximize each theatre’s existing inventory and use local rentals for the tour lighting, keeping in mind it will all be a clean start each day with only 4 hours of setup. Having used the MAC 101’s many times, I felt these would be an ideal solution to achieve a unique look.”

The three-day event attracts people from across Italy and further afield, from hardened jazz aficionados to those just want to enjoy good music in spectacular surroundings. The concerts are staged by the Associazione Culturale Armonia, which promotes artistic and cultural territory in the region, in collaboration with Gaeta’s local authority and the prestigious Marine School of Italy’s Guardia di Finanza, which is based in the city.
