Teamplayer: grandMA2 Welcomes KHL Kontinental Hockey League All-Star Game in Slovakia

.

The Kontinental Hockey League All-Stars Game 2014 was recently hosted in the Slovnaft Arena in Bratislava, Slovakia. It marks the midway point of the Kontinental Hockey League's regular season, with many of the league's star players playing against each other in a charity match of Western against Eastern players. Team players for both teams are chosen in public votes by fans, KHL managers, journalists and coaches of both selections. The final score of the match was West / East 18:16

Lighting for the opening show for the event was controlled by 1 x grandMA2 full-size console in addition with 2 x MA NPU (Networking Processing Unit) as well as 2 x MA Digital Dimmer 12 x 2,3kVA and was broadcast live by numerous TV channels. The concept for the TV show came from the director Tomáš Eibner. Lighting design, programming and operation was done by Martin Kubánka.

Kubánka stated: “The KHL All-Star event is the most important event in the whole season on the old continent. The KHL organizational team placed high demands on every part of the show and the match. It was a complex combination that involved coordination of the light show together with the onscreen presentations, interactive projection and live action on the ice. I chose a grandMA2 full-size as the first and the only choice for obvious reasons. I am used to working to the highest standards.”

“The preparation time wasn't long”, continued Kubánka. “Coordination between all interactive elements and adaptations had to be quick and precise. These are the aspects which speak clearly for MA systems. As well as the fact, that we are proud owners of MA lighting products, personally I would like to highlight the speed, clarity of layouts and features like the quick access to editing of the MA system. I can’t pick any function as the best one. For me the whole grandMA2 is the best, and the only choice for professional lighting designers and operators.”

The MA system controlled more than 150 moving lights including 100 of Robe’s Pointe multi-purpose moving lights and a bunch of conventional and LED fixtures.

Martin Kubánka and Michal Brna headed the lighting crew. Q-99 s.r.o. delivered the lighting equipment for the show. LightNeq s.r.o. is the distributor for MA Lighting in Slovakia.
