A RF Weekend for Euromedia France

With the arrival of spring, high frequency operations are flourishing and despite a very RF weekend, the teams still have energy

After the Criterium International race in Corsica on 26th and 27th of March, the schedule was heavy for the Euro Media France RF team also in April. On the schedule were two operations carried out under the summer sun: the Paris Marathon and the Paris - Roubaix cycling race.

Paris Marathon

The 35th edition of the Paris Marathon was broadcast live and for the first time in High Definition on France 3. At 08:35am on Sunday 10th April, three MotorCams, two sound motorcycles, and the team car equipped with a crane and the relay equipment, set off from the Champs Élysées on a route of 42,195 km through the streets of Paris. The camera signals of the event were uplinked via two relay helicopters to a relay aero plane which also was responsible for the downlink to the broadcast station.

Paris-Roubaix

For the Paris-Roubaix race on the same day, Euro Media France used four MotoCams , two sound motorbikes, two helicopters equipped with cameras and the XL2 OB truck. Two other helicopters and a plane transmitted the race of more than 250 km nicknamed “the Hell of the North” or “the hardest of the hard”!
