Panorama: The IAAF World Championships in Athletics

From August 10 to 18, a Panorama’s crew of 30 specialists is covering the IAAF World Championships in Athletics taking place in Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium.

Panorama is producing an international HD signal for the marathon and race walking competitions, as well as providing technical services to the event’s host broadcaster Eurovision Production Coordination, which will facilitate their broadcast of a number of races,  pole vaulting, long jump, high jump and triple jump,  and shot put, javelin, discus and hammer throw competitions.

Panorama’s crew is equipped with one 16-camera and two 24-camera OB vans and three special cameras vans, and further equipment including slow motion and super slow motion cameras,   a panoramic remote-control video head; cable cams, mini- and micro-cams that are installed in hard-to-reach spots; remote-control telescoping cranes and stands; ultralight cranes, and  camera platforms.

In order to provide the best possible coverage of the marathon race, a helicopter, three motorbikes, a special vehicle and two cranes will be involved in the shooting. The marathon race presents a challenge due to its length. The athletes will start out at the Luzhniki Stadium, go through the Frunzenskaya Embankment to the Vasilyevsky Spusk near Kremlin and return to the Stadium for the finish.

As many as 38 countries will air live the HD signal produced by Panorama. In Russia, the live broadcast will be delivered to the audience by the VGTRK .
