Eurosport will broadcast the games in HD
MEDIAPRO is currently carrying out the audiovisual production of the African Cup of Nations, which is taking place in Angola from Sunday 10th January until the 31st of the month. The group is in charge of match coverage, production, the graphics package, stats and the broadcast of the international signal via a massive deployment of cutting edge equipment and high definition technology. This will be the first African Cup of Nations broadcast in High Definition. Channels specializing in sports such as Al Jazeera Sport and Eurosport will broadcast the games in HD with the African TV networks screening games in standard definition. MEDIAPRO was awarded the contract for the production of the big sporting event on 28th December when the decision was taken by the African Football Confederation and the Angolan Public TV to grant the coverage of the competition to the MEDIAPRO Group which has worked on the ANC on previous occasions and has also won the contract for the production of the ANC in both 2014 and 2016.
Every match will be covered with 17 HD cameras
From Spain and Portugal and by air more than 150 Spanish and Portuguese staff from the company have been flown into Angola to support the staff already in the country, together with all the technical equipment. 4 HD control units, 4 mobile units in flight cases, 68 cameras, 12 of which are super slow and 2 steadicams. Every match will be covered with 17 HD cameras, 14 fixed, 2 slomos and 1 wireless. Two production teams, led by Juan Figueroa, is in charge of all match production. The 32 games to be played will take place in Luanda, Cabinda, Benguela and Lubango. MEDIAPRO is producing all the matches from the competition, providing signal transport services, the graphics package and the official stats as well as customising the signal for a host of TV networks.
