These figures demonstrate the importance of a booming sector which, despite these numbers, is still very much in the development stage and presents countless business opportunities. In this sense, MEDIAPRO and the Johan Cruyff Institute have joined forces to promote training in the field of eSports management. The agreement will see MEDIAPRO contribute its leadership position in the eSports sector with projects like LVP (the largest Spanish-language eSports organization in the world) and UBEAT (OTT and television channel featuring sector-specific content), while the Johan Cruyff Institute will provide their know-how and experience in sports management training.
The ground-breaking project resulting from this collaboration is the massive open online course (MOOC) "The eSports Industry", available in Spanish and English and already open for registration. With a maximum duration of four weeks, the course explains the evolution of the eSports industry through major players and stakeholders of the sector, with videos, podcasts, interviews, reports, and articles. Registrants will learn all about what eSports are; how this industry and video games work; the legal framework; opportunities the sector offers; its economic impact; who the key players are and what roles they play; as well as the culture, values and aspirations of the professionals involved.

In the words of Víctor Jordán, Academic Director at the Johan Cruyff Institute, “the objective of the program is to understand where a young industry like eSports stands today and in which direction it is heading. For this, we have prepared a series of challenges that will allow students to discover and connect with a knowledge base, individuals and institutions in the sector”.
“At LVP we have been spearheading the development of the eSports sector in Spain and Latin America for over a decade. We’ve poured all our know-how into this course to ensure that "The eSports Industry" becomes the definitive training tool.", said Jordi Soler, CEO of LVP.
