LiveLike and Deltatre partner to accelerate innovation of VR in live sports
The two companies will collaborate on the development of a multi-platform VR application, including Samsung Gear VR (Oculus) and mobile-based experiences, tailored for broadcasting the most important football tournaments over the next few years. The collaboration will extend to other sports and build on both companies' expertise in live productions.
"With the shared goal of crafting a game-changing experience for sports fans, we are partnering with LiveLike in the newest asset of our wide range of Digital Host Services. Along with the rise of OTT, virtual reality is a strategic area we plan to innovate in moving forward,” said Deltatre's Chief Product and Marketing Officer Carlo De Marchis.
"Our combined production and development of VR experiences at live events are going to complement each other and will enable us to jointly provide innovative solutions for multiplatform coverage of major sporting events." said Gilles Mas, Managing Director International Football at Deltatre.
Miheer Walavalkar, Chief Business Officer at LiveLike, said “We are combining the best aspects of a LiveLike broadcast, including our trademark ‘VR Suite’, with Deltatre’s expertise in next-generation digital services. Together, we will further elevate live VR sports broadcasting and provide fans an experience that they’ve never seen before.”
Both LiveLike and Deltatre support rights holders and owners in delivering multi-dimensional and multi-platform sports coverage. Services provided range from live streaming technology, website design, and mobile applications.
Both companies have significant experience working with the world’s largest sports leagues and brands, including FIFA, UEFA, Copa America, the English Premier League, Bundesliga, French Open, and the ATP World Tour.
LiveLike gives viewers the opportunity to watch live sports in virtual reality from a “private suite” that mimics a real VIP suite experience, complete with additional feeds, statistics and a jumbotron showing the game’s TV broadcast. With a flexible technology platform and device-agnostic approach, LiveLike is able to create tailored mobile experiences for Gear VR, Google Cardboard and more. LiveLike is the provider of the Fox Sports VR (NCAA Football, Copa America Centanario, MLS) experience. The company has already broadcast games in partnership with Sky Sports (English Premier League games), Roland Garros (French Open), Manchester City (vs. Arsenal), Sky Germany (Bundesliga) and El Clasico. In February 2016, the company received the “1st and Future” award from NFL and TechCrunch. The company is based in New York, with offices in Paris and Mumbai.
