During Summer 2010 Alfacam Recorded Many International Sports Events

All Across Europe - Alfacam OBVans and Wireless Technology

After the World Cup in South Africa in June all the Alfacam facilities were sent back home for a dozen international sports events in July and August. These events include the Monaco Diamond League, the Triathlon World Championship Series, the European Championship Athletics, the European Swimming Championship and a lot of cycle racing, motor sports and horse-riding.

During the European Championship Athletics in Barcelona, from 26 July until 1 August, Alfacam did the production of all athletic disciplines for host broadcaster TVE. Five OB vans and around 70 cameras were used. Two helicopters and three motorcycles took care of the wireless recording of power walking and the marathon for both men and women. During the weekend of 20 July, Alfacam could already prepare itself for the EC Athletics, during the Diamond League in Monaco.

Another big sports competition on the summer agenda was the European Swimming Championship in Budapest. For MTV (the Hungarian public broadcaster) Alfacam delivered all facilities in HDTV: two large OB vans with 40 cameras, four underwater hotheads and an underwater rail system of 50m. Together with a Spidercam, these facilities were also applied above the water.

This summer the Triathlon ITU World Championship Series took place in London and Kitzbühel. In September this world-class event takes place in Budapest. Each time Alfacam sends two helicopters and three motorcycles to do the recording of these events.

Further, Alfacam provided facilities for quite some cycle races this summer: the Tour of Austria, the European Cycling Championship in Ankara, the Tour of Wallonia and the Eneco Tour.

For seven years already Alfacam does the recordings of all the 8 WTCC races. This year, it also provides the tv facilities for the 24h of Spa. Besides, the company takes care of the worldwide unilateral services for Formula 1 for TF1 and it does the same for all European Moto GPs for BBC.

Finally, Alfacam recorded the Chio Aachen, one of the most important horse-riding events in the world.
