The Tim Brando Show in Shreveport, LA Lights Up with Litepanels®

The facility, originally an audio recording studio, was not designed to support television production. This presented challenges of limited availability of electrical power and air conditioning. Litepanels LED lighting fixtures have become the ideal solution in these increasingly common situations.

The ceilings range from 10’ to 12’ and were covered with sound-proofing materials. CBS Sports Network installed a lightweight grid structure that could not be anchored above, but was tied into the walls instead. With that type of design, the grid could not have supported the weight of traditional lighting. Litepanels LED fixtures were a perfect fit because they weigh only one-third as much, but can provide similar light output.

To get the high quality on-air look they desired, the “Tim Brando Show” installed a combination of 10 Litepanels 1x1 Flood fixtures, three 1x1 Spots, and four Sola ENG Fresnel fixtures.

CBS Sports Network used the existing available electrical outlets to power the Litepanels fixtures, and since Litepanels generate no noticeable heat, existing air conditioning proved more than capable of cooling the studio.

Another bonus is that the Litepanels LED lights have built-in dimmers that are DMX controllable, which further reduced complexity and overall cost. All Litepanels LED lighting fixtures can be dimmed from 100% to 0 with no noticeable shift in color temperature.

With all of the practical features that Litepanels brought to lighting the “Tim Brando Show”, the end result was the on-air look. Walter Raps, CTO of CBS College Sports Network said “Overall the set looks great on camera, Tim Brando looks great, and Litepanels helped make those great pictures.”
