Win a Pair of Genelec SAM 8320A at IBC2015

Genelec will showcase its Compact Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) products at IBC 2015, which will feature in a small Audio 3D set up showing the potential these products offers its users.

The Smart Active Monitor concept offers its users automatic acoustic calibration for systems up to 25 speakers and 5 subwoofers and is thus ideal for multichannel systems. The system calibrates frequency response to be flat as well as time-of-flight (same arrival time of sound regardless of distance from listening position), phase correlation between subwoofer(s) and the main speakers and sound pressure level.

The Compact SAM range from Genelec consists of three different products. The 8320A, a two-way system with a 4 in bass driver and ¾ in tweeter, the 8330A, also a two-way system with a 5 in bass driver and 3 in tweeter and these can be complemented by the 7350A, a subwoofer featuring a 8 in drive unit in Genelec´s patented Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSETM) cabinet.

The solution to the calibration problem lies in the introduction of Smart Active Monitors or SAM for short. The SAM concept offers its users automatic acoustic calibration for systems up to 25 speakers and 5 subwoofers and is thus ideal for multichannel systems. The system calibrates frequency response to be flat as well as time-of-flight (same arrival time of sound regardless of distance from listening position), phase correlation between subwoofer(s) and the main speakers and sound pressure level.

They are controlled by the GLMTM, Genelec Loudspeaker Manager software, which in turn contains the AutoCalTM program. The AutoCalTM algorithm has been designed on the basis of several hundreds of measurements made in control rooms all over the world and is thus based on real world situations This simple to use system allows the user to acoustically calibrate his or her monitors with a few key strokes on a computer and thus negating the requirement to bring in experts to perform these tasks.
