Vislink to demo expanded live broadcast product range at BroadcastAsia2015

Industry-first H.265 hardware codec, third-generation reverse camera control system, and HEROCast HD wireless transmitter

Vislink, the global provider of broadcast communications equipment, today announced the portfolio of new products it will be exhibiting at Broadcast Asia 2015. Products include the award-winning UltraCoder H.265 encoder and FocalPoint reverse camera control unit. Vislink will also be exhibiting the HEROCast wireless transmitter, designed to let GoPro HERO3+ Black and HERO4 cameras broadcast live, wireless HD video for the first time.

Vislink’s UltraCoder, which scooped an award at a prestigious broadcast show, is the industry’s first HEVC/H.265 video compression hardware encoder specifically designed for efficient 4K compression. The space-efficient, rack-mounted unit lets users transmit at their current video quality using half the bandwidth, or double the video quality at the same bandwidth, delivering cost savings of up to 50% when used in conjunction with a satellite data terminal. For broadcasters not yet capturing video in 4K, the encoder also has the ability to encode up to four live HD channels in H.265, plus one additional HD channel in H.264.

FocalPoint is Vislink’s third-generation reverse camera control unit, now featuring support for multiple camera and operator control panel combinations. The bi-directional system includes a rack-mounted indoor unit, weatherproof outdoor UHF transmitter that can control up to six cameras, and compact UHF data receivers, which attach directly to the cameras. This system works with several Sony models and the Hitachi RU1500, and is compatible with Vislink’s existing Gigawave product line.

The HEROCast wireless transmitter, developed in partnership with GoPro, lets broadcasters capture new and unique perspectives from live events. It uses less energy than any other transmitter on the market, leading to smaller size, longer battery life and ‘cool’ operation. Designed with flexibility in mind, the HEROCast is specifically tailored to be compatible with existing GoPro equipment and can be positioned in multiple locations, including within the HERO BacPac housing for water resistant usage.

“Our rapidly expanding product range demonstrates Vislink’s commitment to developing technologies to address key market requirements such as 4K compression ahead of time, as well as the demand for a more immersive viewing experience when watching sports and live events. Vislink is helping ensure its customers in the South East Asian market stay at the forefront of what’s possible with wireless broadcast technology,” said Ali Zarkesh, Vice President Product Management at Vislink.

Vislink is now accepting orders for the above products, and will be at Broadcast Asia 2015 (stand 5D4-02) to give demonstrations and discuss the new solutions.
