Vietnamese TV Viewers Enjoy Wider Choice of HD Content
"We continue to make a strong commitment to quality, both in terms of the programming on offer and the way in which we deliver it to our viewers," said Dr Thai Minh Tan, CEO, VTC. "High definition content is becoming increasingly popular among our subscribers, and we have therefore responded to this by increasing the number of HD channels we can provide. We have experience in working with the Ericsson team to provide enhanced TV services in the past, and were therefore confident that Ericsson could once again provide us with the reliability and performance levels we required."
Ericsson has supplied VTC with a solution comprising the Ericsson Video Processor Chassis (VPC) and its EN81XX MPEG-2 SD and MPEG-4 AVC HD encoder modules. The Ericsson Video Processor Chassis (VPC) is a high density, multi-functional, video processing platform that meets the requirements of today’s broadcasters.
"The television landscape in Vietnam is rapidly evolving, with HD services becoming more widespread and uptake continuing to grow at a steady pace," said Staffan Pehrson, Vice President and Head of Solution Area TV, Ericsson. "The opportunities for the growth and development of enhanced television services in the country are huge, as it focuses on widespread digitization as a means of entertainment, education and public information. We are pleased to enable VTC to increase its capacity for HD channels in order to strengthen its service offering and provide greater quality to Vietnamese viewers."
