HDTV productions need increasing data transmission rates
tv productioncenter zürich ag (tpc), the leading Swiss general contractor for audio-visual media, which's customers are well-known companies as the FIFA, Swiss Television the ORF or BMW, relies on Neutrik. Bruno Keller, Project Supervisor Engineering tpc: "New equipment and new technologies like for example HDTV, ask for increasing data transmission rates, which can hardly be realized with copper cables any more. In this regard fiber optics can be classified as the perfect suitable and up to date transmitting medium for new technologies. The consequent use of fiber optics requires a reliable connector accordingly. tpc has chosen the opticalCON first of all because of its operating reliability."
tpc: New HD OBvan in the field
The HD-2 of tpc is the latest addition to tpc’s HD OBvan fleet. The special purpose vehicle is a mobile production facility for video and audio and offers state-of-the-art production engineering in a minimum of space. The HD-2 produces with up to twelve cameras in high definition video und in digital audio quality (Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound). Therefore the vehicle is equipped with more than 3 km Neutrik fiber optic cable and reliable opticalCON system components. In December it went into action for the first time at different sport and show events. "After one year of planning and building time we have a further HD production equipment which has proven its value quite quickly at different events like gala shows and sport matches", Peter Flückiger, audio project manager, sums up and is happy: " The opticalCON cables have proven very well in the HD-2."
