Trilogy Communications, the global provider of digital intercom systems and Master Reference Generators to the broadcast industry, launches its innovative, new distributed matrix intercom, Gemini, at IBC 2010 on stand 10.A29.

Gemini addresses the demanding needs of today’s broadcast and professional media industries namely; expandable structure to cope as requirements change, choice of operator panels to suit both application and user, simple installation over short and long distances and absolute reliability, to deliver a unique intercom solution that combines full programme quality audio with integrated IP capability.

Gemini combines IP connectivity with programme quality audio to suit applications ranging from small single studios to the largest multi-studio, multi-site operations

Gemini’s architecture is built on the concept of a de-centralised, scalable platform of 32 port matrices each with IP connectivity. The 20 kHz audio performance is preserved both internally and over a Gemini network of up to 256 ports using the proprietary High Speed Link (HSL) over standard Cat 5 or fibre connections. This approach eliminates the single point of failure, and combined with both the use of a dual redundant ring of audio and IP failsafe routing, ensures that Gemini delivers ultra resilient performance.

Gemini’s flexible design is suited to every application ranging from small single studios to the largest multi-studio complex, and using Gemini’s seamless IP interfacing, a network can be expanded almost limitlessly in terms of system size and geographic location via LAN, WAN or Satellite. Gemini’s IP credentials are further enhanced with its comprehensive bandwidth management capabilities capable of accommodating variable network conditions.

Intuitive system operation allied to connectivity for both traditional and IP enabled intercom panels, together with support for telephony and intelligent interfacing to analogue and SIP enabled phone systems and portable devices, makes Gemini undoubtedly the most flexible system available today.

Whilst launching Gemini, Trilogy has taken great care to ensure that Gemini will continue to integrate with its existing Commander, Orator and Mercury systems to offer users the utmost flexibility when upgrading existing systems. In addition Gemini operates with all of Trilogy’s current panel range including its class leading touch screen operator panels.

Barry Spencer, General Manager at Trilogy Communications, said: “The Gemini architecture offers a new and totally unique intercom solution combining a broadcast quality digital audio network with integrated IP capability. It addresses the demanding needs of today’s globalised broadcasters, as well as addressing the ever more blurred distinction between “intercom” and “programme” audio. ”
