The company will also be unveiling the new Ultrix-FR5 routing/AV platform to the UK market for the first time. Launched very recently at CABSAT in Dubai, the Ultrix-FR5 is Ross Video’s latest 5RU 144x144 version of the AV processing powerhouse that can replace up to 5 full racks of traditional equipment. Incredibly feature rich in its standard configuration, Ultrix-FR5 is also software upgradeable so customers can add additional features without having to purchase any additional hardware. “We believe in the philosophy of Software Defined Production (SDP) as a way of making customers’ lives easier”, comments Todd Riggs, Marketing Product Manager for Infrastructure at Ross.
Software Defined Production (SDP) again to the fore with UK debut of Ultrix-FR5
“SDP allows customers to invest in hardware and buy what is needed today with the security of being able to change and update functionality via software keys in the future. The first two versions of Ultrix were extremely disruptive products and we’ve responded to market demands for a larger product with this new 5RU version. Even without adding any of the additional software licenses, the new Ultrix-FR5 has a comprehensive feature set with a massive 3000x3000 audio routing and processing fabric that includes audio embedding/de-embedding, MADI support and clean/quiet switching on every output as standard. 24 MultiViewers, 12G support and Input FrameSyncs are then available as software licenses, giving you a hugely versatile product that can save you time, money, power, cabling, rack space and labour".
