FOR-A reveals MBP-100MP Multiformat Player at NAB 2010

MBP-100MP

FOR-A, a manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, will introduce the MBP-100MP Multi Format Player at the 2010 NAB Show in Las Vegas, Nev., April 12-15 (Booth C5219). It offers HD/SD-SDI baseband output of major file formats used in video production, including MXF files like XDCAM HD and P2HD.

Collect various file formats into one central location and play them out as baseband signals

“Many facilities are building file-based workflows, but are still working with multiple file formats,” said Hiro Tanoue, president, FOR-A Corporation of America. “Our new MBP-100MP allows you to collect those various file formats into one central location and play them out as baseband signals. It’s ideal for users with multiple system generated file formats in house who do not want to be limited by these file formats when importing footage.”

Equipped with HD/SD-SDI output, the MBP-100MP supports playback of a number of miscellaneous files, including P2HD (DVCPRO HD and AVC-Intra), XDCAM (EX, HD, and HD422), Ikegami GF, Apple QuickTime (DVCPRO codec), HDV, and AVCHD. It also supports audio files conforming to the various video formats – and up to eight channels of audio output in an embedded format. The 1 RU player is housed in a vibration-resistant case and features 128 GB solid-state storage, making it an ideal solution for portable applications.

Ethernet support for 100Base-TX/1000Base-T

The MBP-100MP is equipped with Ethernet support for 100Base-TX/1000Base-T to support high-speed file transfers. Four USB 2.0 ports allow connection to external drives, plus keyboard and mouse. The RS-422 port allows external control with an optional VTR emulation command, and an optional GPI terminal enables control of playback and stop operations.

Control software for the MBP-100MP uses thumbnail images so users can confirm the content of recorded clips at a glance, complete with file format, file name, and timecode. By incorporating the footage into FOR-A’s MediaConcierge media management system, the MBP-100MP can also be used as a clip server.

The MBP-100MP will be available in July 2010.
