Documentary filmmakers will have the chance to get to know the latest technologies of the entire production chain from previsualisation to production, post production, storage and archiving and to test them hands-on.
The recent developments in the technology of the moving image and a rapidly growing sector of accessories have also influenced the work of documentary filmmakers during the last years. In view of tight production times and short budgets, the CineExpo Leipzig therefore not only concentrates on the “major equipment”, but also focuses on the new generation of DSLR and system cameras. It offers information for all the filmmakers who need flexible and affordable professional equipment for their daily work.
Due to the transformation of both the media scene and the working environment by digitalisation and the internet as well as new channels of distribution for films and TV programs, the fast adaption to new conditions becomes inevitable. In accompanying workshops, current developments relevant for documentarists will be presented from a technological and economical point of view. Besides, perspectives and chances in a manifold media scene will be evaluated. A main topic will be the use of Stereo 3D: According to Wim Wenders, the winner of the German Documentary Film Prize 2011, this technology is made for documentaries.

Venue of the CineExpo is the Old District Office (altes Landratsamt) at the Tröndlinring, which has been converted into a location for events and exhibitions lately and is located only some meters from the central station and some minutes from the DOK festival center, the Leipzig Museum for Fine Arts. For special screenings and corporate events, a lounge on the basement floor is available.
The project CineExpo Leipzig was initiated by the organizer of the trade fair cinec in cooperation with Leipzig Trade Fair and DOK Leipzig – it is an attractive opportunity to cater for this exciting segment during the „cinec-free“ years. The advantages are obvious: strong perception of the CineExpo through a broad communication base and a great and international audience through synergies with strong partners in a lively media city.
